Since when was Golovkin the worlds' best MW?

It's like people claiming Kovalev the best light heavy. Too many Europeans acting like idiots when ratings look right at them and say different.
Look at some P4P lists here, by gawd.Comment

Kovalev is #3 and but imo he actually has a much better claim than Golovkin, he has beaten similar comp. to Stevenson.
Fwiw Darnell Boone fought both, and he picked Kovalev to win.Last edited by Weebler I; 05-22-2014, 03:31 PM.Comment

More than enough fools on the other side of the fence to even it out. Broner's p4p #6 ranking will forever outdo anything near the realm of overhype.Comment

To reiterate what others have suggested, there is a failure in some cases to distinguish the champion (i.e. "the man") and the best fighter in the division. Most of the time, these two things overlap and there is no confusion. Right now at 160, the sense is that Martinez's physical decline has created a state in which, although he is the legit MW champ, there is rightly a question about whether he is the best fighter in his own division. Thus, you get two different interpretations of "world's best MW." Of course, it's all a matter of speculation for the time being. I say until the matter is decided in the ring, Martinez holds onto his claim as the best MW in the world.Comment
