Why is there more mma segments on network tv and non for boxing?

I'm surprised that the fact that most top boxers only fight twice a year wasn't mentioned. Sometimes when you can only cheer for your favorite fighter once every 5-6 months, you forget about him and lose interest.

Yes, this is a huge reason as well. Back in the day, guys used to fight several times a year. It wasn't always superfights but guys were on CBS or NBC, fighting sometimes 6X per year. Much easier to build guys up and keep a sport in the headlines, exposed to the masses, etc this way.

Sugar Ray Robinson and Jake LaMotta fought a rematch 3 weeks after they fought once. You have to wait 2 years sometimes to get guys to do a rematch and you have to pay $75 for it.

The big thing MMA has going for it is they MAKE FIGHTS. If Floyd and Pac were in the UFC, they would have fought 4 times by now. Match ups is what really makes MMA interesting. The best are always fighting the best. In Boxing, it's an absolute rarity when you get two top-tier guys together. It's like a special event. In MMA, you always get the that.

This thread shows that most of you don't watch MMA. Go on any MMA board and half the threads on there are about MMA dying, disappointing business etc. MMA is less popular then it was a few years ago.

This will also probably be the first year since 2005 that boxing will have sold more PPVs then MMA.

I see mma on ****e, fox, espn etc etc and they have a timeslot to discuss they and have their respective shows but boxing has none. Why is this when all the numbers prove that MMA is dying or topped out and boxing just keep growing and is the biggest money earner out the two, I feel like theirs a corporate agenda to push MMA for some odd reason and not so much boxing. What do you guys think? and also to admins/mods I wasnt sure where to post this so feel free to move it to its proper location.

Because boxing is a joke! Outside of he actual fights, there's too many things that happen that make the sport look ******. Floyd's wasn't the first but how does the p4p king get to cry about another fighters legal gloves and gets his way??? How does he dodge the biggest fight in recent history??? Nothing against Floyd but you mentioned him so I spoke about him. There's one tu of other things hat occur in boxing that makes it look dumb.

Super fights in MMA are hard to make bro. 155er jumping up to 170 isn't a cake walk. 170 to 185, 185 to 205.

Because MMA have all their Top Fighters under ONE Company while Boxing is ALL OVER THE PLACE, this guy is with Top Rank the other is with GBP, some with DiBella it is IMPOSSIBLE to do anything with Boxing when you not even sure you can match up the best vs the best

This Cold War EXCUSE is Laughable, how about Belt Organizations stop taking extra Pay under the table and do their job.

Belt Organization can just ORDER MATCHES and let the Promoters Bid For it like that recently did with Russell Jr vs Lomenchenko. Do More Of That and it would make it hard to have a "COLD WAR". What when you ranking guys based on who is paying you what, it starts to become a JOKE

No, the UFC did more (and more then boxing overall) both last year and in 2007. This year boxing should win even with them running less PPVs then the UFC.
