Yes, but in this period he fought except a blown up Trinidad all the Antwun Echols and William Joppys of the world (I won't dare mention Morad Hakker).

He fought better competition in his 40s.

Based on his habilities and his career, Hopkins never was a fast fighter, his speed was pretty much the same when he fought Taylor.
Nard hadn't lose so much speed when he was 40.

Taylor was a B fighter, but his speed gave nard troubles.

Nard was 28 I think when he fought Roy, not prime OK, but again too slow, Roy wasn't prime neither. It was a first title shot for both of them.

But if Nard was only prime from 34 to 36...

Has Pacquiao ever fought anyone with Hopkins abilities before? Has he ever fought anyone as smart and crafty as Hopkins? Nope. I would say counter punching defensive minded fighters give Pacquiao the most trouble and he's never fought anyone even close to the style and abilities as Hopkins.

He fought some tough, solid contenders at 160 who didn't have a name. The Maidana's and prime Malignaggi's of that division -- guys who weren't stars but weren't an easy night either. And he dismantled them all easily. And ruined a few of them (Echols).

Obviously he didn't, the closer opponent he faced might be Bradley.

Same for Hopkins, he never faced anyone with Pac abilities.

He faced someone faster, as powerful and smarter in Jones.

Bradley is to Hopkins what Steve Forbes is to Mayweather.
