Official Froch vs Groves II Master Discussion Thread

Seeing how that last fight was close unless Froch gets old overnight he should be able to adjust and win. I've seen him turn into a decent boxer when he needs too. Groves, in my opinion, seems to only have one gear.

Froch I'd imagine would take that badly considering the way he's overachieved in the sport.
Now this was before Groves had spoken and before the fight was even announced. I actually think it may have been before the Kessler fight.
However, Groves had also said after the Bute fight that he'd beat Froch.
But yeah, he did downplay his achievements so to speak. Or at least, downplay how good Froch actually was/is.
For a proud man like Froch, you could imagine him getting wound up by that.

Just rewatched part 1 and I'm pumped as fuck for Saturday. I believe if Groves sticks to a gameplan for 12 rounds, there's no way Froch beats him. I picked Froch for the first fight because I thought he would be able to outsmart the younger fighter, I figured his experience would come into play. He definitely underestimated Groves and almost paid the price but he did however, did just that.
With that being said, I don't think Froch can outbox this guy. He's rangier, has better footwork, faster hands, uses better angles, and possibly hits harder. The reason Froch won the first fight is because Groves got too confident in there. 2 minutes and 21 seconds into round 6 Carl hurt him with a left hook and he responded by putting his hands down and leaning against the ropes. Carl did some good work on him landed 2 or 3 right hands but Groves has decent defense and was able to slip a lot of the punches. This sequence however, started Froch's gameplan I'll explain.
Groves, kept being dragged into a gun fight little by little by Carl. To his credit, it was the only way he could win. Let him punch himself out and get tired and do some work late in the fight on the inside where he's most effective. He also kept hit Groves a few times during breaks. He was frustrating the youngling.
Carl will have to dig deep and get to work a lot earlier than he did last time. He has to get Groves respect from the gate. He'll need to cut the ring off and catch him against the ropes early. If he gives Groves any type of space, he'll be outboxed easily. I think Groves took the first fight as a learning experience, he'll have to be even smarter this time and not let Carl dictate the range or pace of the fight.
On the other hand Carl also knows Groves could hurt him so he may not want to take a risk of possibly being hurt early. This is what makes this fight so intriguing, we know what Groves will show up on fight night, but we don't know what Carl will show up.
Either way, I know we'll have a great fight on Saturday!

Tell you what, just re-watched Groves-DeGale fight on Sky and I really don't know how Groves got that decision.
I hadn't seen it in a while and thought it was really close, but watching it back I had it 116-112 DeGale. Not that it matters now, but still...
