PPV is declining generally -- it included MMA as well.

There's now more boxing PPV's per year than there's ever been. Last year they had the biggest grossing fight in the sport ever. Pacquiao's and Mayweathers numbers are a little down but that's because of opposition. Boxing would be a lot more popular without PPV anyway. Imagine fights like Mayweather-Canelo on regular TV the numbers would be crazy.

Can you explain how what you just copy and pasted means that Mayweather needs to do at least 1.5 million ppvs to break even or create a profit?

That's deceptive because Mayweather-Canelo was about the biggest fight to make in boxing, and it probably came about In part because of how poorly Mayweather-Gurrero did.

There's not a lot or places to realisitaclly go after that fight to get similar numbers without ending the Cold War.
