Sparring can be many different things, it can be to help each other out, it can be technical sparring, it can be to work on one specific thing.
Who are you to define what sparring should and shouldn't be? I guess the great trainers, gyms and gym wars that have happened are all done by "gym douchbags" then.
How the *** are you going to prepare for a fight if you don't go 100% all out, balls to the wall once in a while? You want the first time that you go hard and try to knock someone out is in a real fight? Good luck with that...
Don't train in Mexico then, because that country is full of "gym douchbags" ...lol
It's boxing, people get knocked out, jaws, nose and ribs break. It's part of the sport. It's like telling a football team not to tackle, or a hockey player not to check.
Sparring can be many different things, and sometimes it needs to be a war to prepare yourself mentally and physically for what is ahead.
I never felt remorse for knocking someone out, down or hurting them to the body because they were looking to do the same exact thing to me. Fighters are made in the gym, not during actual fights.
