i knocked people down a few times and twice rocked guys so bad the sparring was halted without them going off their feet. i felt horrible every time. sparring isnt a competition, you are working together to help each other improve, as amateurs you are usually teammates as well. to do that to a teammate is bad enough, but to enjoy it?

sure its a confirmation that you can punch, which is good. but what it really says is you dont have enough skill and/or discipline to control yourself which is embarrassing. add the state of your teammate and i dont know how you can enjoy it.
Sparring can be many different things, it can be to help each other out, it can be technical sparring, it can be to work on one specific thing.

Who are you to define what sparring should and shouldn't be? I guess the great trainers, gyms and gym wars that have happened are all done by "gym douchbags" then.

How the *** are you going to prepare for a fight if you don't go 100% all out, balls to the wall once in a while? You want the first time that you go hard and try to knock someone out is in a real fight? Good luck with that...

Don't train in Mexico then, because that country is full of "gym douchbags" ...lol

It's boxing, people get knocked out, jaws, nose and ribs break. It's part of the sport. It's like telling a football team not to tackle, or a hockey player not to check.

Sparring can be many different things, and sometimes it needs to be a war to prepare yourself mentally and physically for what is ahead.

I never felt remorse for knocking someone out, down or hurting them to the body because they were looking to do the same exact thing to me. Fighters are made in the gym, not during actual fights.

Ok, yeah. We have thoose guys from time to time. They dont get the concept of training, and usually they dont get better at what they do. After a while someone better then them puts them in their place and they usually stops training after that.

But thats when everyone involved knows and agrees "now we are gonna do it as close to a fight as possible."

Yes but Assassin made it seem like you should never go this hard and should never try and KO people. You have to go all out to simulate a real fight.

Like I posted above, not always, but sometimes you do. If you don't want to get hurt, than I suggest another sport.

From sparring, I'd just add that it's a great feeling when you hurt or drop a guy after trying out a new technique or movement. One experience I had was just that my sparring partner kept getting me with shots that I couldn't see, like getting underneath my shots and getting me around the sides of the head (my headguard does limit visibility a bit) and it was getting frustrating as hell. But then I timed him nicely and did a quick step to the side movement to counter and dropped him hard with a right hand.

Just like you said all i felt was concerned for the guys. was worried and a little frightened

in terms of pain being dropped via body shot is far worse you just feel paralyzed. your brain says ''get up sucker, get up, whoop that ****er'' your body screams ''**** OFF I AIN'T getting up for solid 3 minutes now''
this I've been stopped by body shot literally took my body 3 seconds to react to it and 2 minutes to even sit down let alone stand up. Any one who gets up from those and continue is superman to me

I've put guys in the street to sleep I've yet to be kod though I have been dropped like someone said earlier its more a relief than anything but the respect and fear you get by the people who whiteness it can give you a hard on . I've never put a dude to sleep in the gym nor have they to me I've put people in bambi legs and stopped em and was stopped once as well every humbling experience.
