He's not going to become a bigger star. He's going to hang on to that title for dear life until Alvarez moves up and takes it.

I don't blame Chavez for walking away. If he doesn't want to stay signed with Top Rank, that's his choice.

To be clear, I was talking about Golovkin becoming a bigger star, not Quillin. I'd say Golovkin's stock will rise if he gets past Geale, Murray and Martinez, then Team Quillin will be interested (unless as you say a Canelo or Cotto bout is on the table).

Haymon has no problem sending his fighters in to lose if they're getting a big payday e.g. Trout and Canelo.

Very short sighted. Quillin has real potential. Patient, w/ decent ring IQ. He hasn't done much yet (same as ggg) but there's clearly a lot of talent there. You're over using the "paper" thing....

I think they've planned on Quillin giving that title up to Alvarez. He'll be moving up soon, and that's Golden Boy's only claim to the middleweight championship. They won't risk that knowing Quillin might lose to a Rosado type, let alone a Golovkin or Geale or someone worthwhile.

Best chance of Quillin fighting Golovkin would be if Cotto beats Martinez and Alvarez can get a MW title from him.

You clearly don't know the difference between ring IQ and simply winning due to power. Quillin has yet to display ring IQ - and if anything his performances are getting worse and his competition isn't getting better - very concerning for Quillin groupies, all two of you.

He said he displayed his ring IQ against Konecny.... didn't see it.
Just saw him having a tough time trying to take out a guy who landed way more punches than he should have.

He threw some, but the way Konecny fights, gloves up and head down while constantly coming forward, Quillin should've been feeding him uppercuts all night

Uh huh. Quillin has as much ring IQ as a wet shoe.

Quillin has got worse as time has gone on.

6 k/ds while getting out-boxed by N'Dam was okay, knocking Guerrero across the ring was good, but he looked vulnerable v Rosado and poor v Konecny. I'm beginning to think he's 6-10 in the MW division not 1-5.
