Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Manager on Chavez, Says Quillin is All Talk

The manager of WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, Oleg Hermann, discussed the circumstances which led Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. to reject a proposal to face Golovkin on July 19th in an HBO Pay-Per-View fight, and also the recent challenge coming from WBO champion Peter Quillin.

According to Chavez, he turned down the fight because he didn't want to accept a deal which extended his promotional agreement with Top Rank.

So did they actually make an offer to Quillin yet? Did HBO give K2 permission to get a GB/Haymon fighter on the network?

Might as well make an offer so they can get a no in writing

            lol at preemptive duck.

Quillin turned down a fight offer before the network war, but he can't stop talking about the fight when the war is ongoing.

I'd like to see a GGG - Quillin fight, but as a Haymon fighter I can imagine that K2 are gonna be sceptical. It'd be good to at least see some negotiations, but some kinda ironclad guarantee of the fight actually happening would have to be part of the contract, and how the hell do you you ensure that a fighter doesn't get 'injured' at the last minute?

I mean you can call it a duck all you like, but having watched both fighters over the course of the last coupla years do you honestly believe that Quillin would be the likely winner in a fight between the two? People rightly rag on Golovkins lack of quality opponents, but Quillins resume is actually worse and he's struggled harder to beat the guys he has fought.

Of course Golovkin would like a shot at Quillins belt, but I think that K2 (and HBO) aren't gonna risk another date falling through, following the loss of the April date and now the loss of the JCC Jr fight.

Quillin will fight Golovkin after he becomes a bigger star. This is classic Haymon looking out for his fighter's financials. Golovkin would knock that boy out.

                  Geale > Quillin

Quillin is nothing but a manufactured protected paper titlist who would get walked through by Geale.
