850k is a good number, but what is really a good number? It is only good if everyone has good profit in it. Unfortunately for showtime it's very very bad number since that means they just lost tens of millions of money on that fight.

The only guy who profit from this is floyd and his crew. So since flo-mos is only concentrated on floyd's balls they naturally cannot see the big picture. They want to emphasize that 850k is a good number based on old fight numbers and that's about it. You cannot get as narrow minded as that.

Floyd Guerrero bombed, that's why golden boy and Showtime juiced it up and got Canelo, with Garcia/lucas undercard. Canelo is still a pup, he didn't need to take on Floyd at that time, But they were desperate to raise the #s to keep Floyds marketability high, because GBP and Haymon have no leverage without him.

So now 2/3 fights Floyd has done for Showtime are financial loses for everyone but Floyd and Haymon.

Showtime and GBP better change up how they do business, this kind of system can't last, it financially makes no sense from a business stand point.

Taking that deal by itself, Showtime have taken a bath. I'm sure Espinoza would justify it by saying it was a pre-condition for an exclusive relationship with Haymon, important to have a flagship fighter etc etc.

It is interesting to see Floyd and Manny's numbers converge like this though. Pacquiao's drawing power hasn't been nearly as affected by the knockout as you might have thought.
850k is not huge when you have a stacked undercards. If Floyd was pulling the the card himself that would be huge but a stacked undercards on Cinco Day .

Sounds like Floyd made a good business decision then huh?

In order for there to be a rematch, it has to be a competitive fight

Floyd vs Maidana was not a competitive fight. Maidana won at least 8 rounds

I'd rather see Matthysse vs Molina 2

Still better than Pac-Bradley II and Bradley was coming off a big PPV with Marquez that sold like 400K or whatever.

Mayweather-Hatton did 920K, so 850K with Maidana and 850-900K with Guerrero isn't too bad.

Pac did 475K with Rios, and 700K with Bradley II.

Lmao, on boxing scene, Ninjas don't even factor in costs.

Y'all ninjAs understand, cost, cuts into profit, right? So bigger numbers sales, don't mean more profit.

What I'm trying to say, is Showtime and the networks they are affiliated with, spend a ton of marketing, among all the other costs associated with a fight of this magnitude.

But that advertising budget alone, is quite high.

I mentioned nothing off budget talk or anything.....I was simply talking Floyd's drawing power. That's all.
