Both have the same signature punch (wild, looping haymaker (a bar brawler's punch) and throw punches from awkward angles

Both make any fight rough, dirty bc neither respects the opponent (though I'd argue that mayorga wasn't as dirty)

Both tire pretty bad toward the second half of the fight bc they're volume punchers

The key to winning vs both is go to the body

The only difference I see is that prime Mayorga has a better chin (and is a better fight promoter)

Mayorga was faster and stronger, Maidana is better skilled even though he doesn't look like it. Maidana follows his fight plan, Mayorga was truly wild.

Mayorga is one of my favorite fightere bar none. The man could make me laugh if my favorite pet died with his ****talking.

There has been a good analysis of the similarities, i.e both guys being essentially brawlers who come from all angles, and the relentless pressure, the weakness to a great body shot, etc.

When it comes to punch delivery the biggest diffrence is that Madianna is a heavy handed puncher. Mayorga is explosive....Thats what I love about el matdore when he explodes with his whole being into each punch....I wish I could get my martial arts students to piunch with that attitude and explosiveness. Madiana is heavy handed. when he catches you its a solid thump and it connects up through his entire body.

Another way to view this difference is two guys pitching a baseball. One guy has a slow delivery, and you see the ball clearly, it is placed precisely and when you catch it it hurts!! Meanwhile? I once caught a college pitcher who was throwing about 85 miles an hour and when the ball went in the mitt it was so fast you could not hardly see it and when it landed it felt light as a bird.
