If it would have happened now, with the way Vitali had been looking in his last couple of fights, I believe it would have gone the distance in favour of Vitali.
Vitali Klitschko v Bermane Stiverne - who would have won?

vitali provided his heart was in it. he seems mentally done with boxing though and going into the ring against anyone in that state of mind is always dangerous.
in the end he retired for a reason, if you dont really want to fight its hard to be successful at the highest level and i think deep down he didnt have the same fire anymore. again, bad idea fighting anyone if thats the case.Comment

I Lol'd at the thought of anyone winning a decision against Vitali. It would be one hell of a fight but I feel Stiverne may have won a unanimous decision against Viltai. Everyone is talking about Wilder but I feel Stiverne is the best prospect in a long time to be a Klitschko. The guy is the real deal and I think at this point has more than enough to overwhelm and beat Wlad.
That simply was never going to happen. Ever.Comment

Stiverne could have beaten Vitali.. Obviously he didn't retire because of those things you mentioned, he retired because he knew David Haye would have beaten him. If you remember, he promised to fight the winner of Haye vs Chisora but as soon as Haye stopped Chisora then Vitali retired because he realized Haye would have beaten him.If Vitali was able to have gone through with that fight before he was struck down to retirement by niggling injuries and politics, would he have shown his age and had problems against B-Ware? Or would his experience have carried him through to another comfortable victory? Would it have been a good name and win to finish his career on?

It's a shame if you think about it, because it would have been right and honorable for the world of boxing to have a change of guard via the traditional route - with a champion losing his title to a challenger instead of this vacated belt because the contender made the champ retire instead of face him.
Just a shame it happened that way instead of the way it should have happened.Comment
