The glove issue was a psychological edge. Floyd should have let him wear Reyes, but at the end of the day he wasn't going to magically win with Reyes gloves. The powerlocks are still 8oz gloves. People don't have much idea really. You can do serious damage in 16oz winning gloves if you have "true" power.

Honestly I don't think they "tried" anything. The gloves were probably made wrong or had some default that caused the issue with the padding. To automatically assume that team Maidana, Everlast, or whoever else tried to cheat with out any shred or evidence is a little ******.

Mayweather was probably going to throw a fit over any glove they brought because he clearly didn't want Chino using punchers gloves.

As much talk as there was from Garcia to purposely fight dirty over and over I wouldn't be surprised if they tried it on purpose.

What a handjob about the gloves...the padding was fine in the glove for a puncher's glove. The reason the commission deemed those blue gloves inadmissible is because it wasn't packaged brand new because it was a custom decal'd glove. Argentinian colors and sun. The padding hadn't been tampered with just because they aren't the feather pillows Floyd is used to.

The commission ok'd brand new MX's that were stock red. They also ok'd Cleo Reyes and a number of other puncher's gloves. Floyd threw a tantrum and said he had to wear soft ass grants. They eventually settled on powerlocks which are a sparring glove and not comfortable for Marcos hand either... Needed Vaseline to fit his hand in the damned thing.




Floyd fans just let it go.... Floyd wanted to handicap the puncher, and still went life and death with the guy.

They were not sparring gloves for the millionth time. Check product review of everlast power lock gloves. Educate yourself before posting garbage

I wonder if Maidana was disappointed that Robert Garcia acted like such a ***** when the Ellerbe, whos fat ass has never been in a ring, was talking about gloves.
I would have made sure the cameras were on me and said "Fine I will wear the red gloves that the commission approved. If you chose not to come out and fight that's on you two" and leave it at that.
People saying Garcia was trying to pull something are ******ed. The gloves are shipped straight from the manufacturer to the arena. Neither fighter's camps see the fight night gloves before the end of the weigh in. You think Garcia went to Everlast and told them to make gloves that were illegal? And you think Everlast, a company who has deep roots in boxing history, chose to put their rep on the line for Marcos ****ing Maidana?
