or his hands could be perfectly fine. Some people have different natural advantages when they come to the ring, others have natural disadvantages. One of floyd's few natural disadvantages is he has brittle wrists. One of maidana's natural advantages is he doesn't have brittle wrists and has good power. Floyd negated maidana's natural advantages by forcing him to wear gloves with extra padding designed for guys like floyd (with brittle hands) which maidana doesn't need to use.
be like maidana saying floyd has good fotwork ... ok lets make him wear sandals to negate that advantage so we then have an even playing field ... it's bs.
or be like putting a helmet on amir kahn to even the playing field cause he has a natural disadvantage due to his chin etc and justify it by saying ... well the guy has more chance of ending up with brain damage in a few years time if he doesn't wear a helmet etcComment

It's fine...Fair enough, didn't mean to try and put you on the spot or ask for credentials online, I just get the feeling some dudes here actually believe that Maidana really fought in sparring gloves.
I won't disagree that it was a shitty move on Floyd and his team's part to not allow Maidana to use his choice of gloves (after the blue ones). I just hope if/when a rematch takes place, this won't be an issue and there won't be any excuses from either side.
I too hope Maidana gets to wear a puncher's glove in a rematch. I can't help but wonder what a glove with more power transference would have done to change the landscape of the fight we just saw.Comment

First I said he MAY... so that indicates it's not a guarantee that what I'm saying will happen. It's just a nice possibility.or his hands could be perfectly fine. Your comparisons though are terrible. 8 oz gloves, regardless of the brand, are powerful gloves. Comparing to 'ok, let's have him wear sandals'? This is what the other guy was talking about in how some of you are clueless thinking that a different style or brand of 8 oz gloves is actually 'pillows.' Regardless of brand, 8 oz gloves are NO JOKE. Then the other fact is -- the less the padding, the higher the possibility you can damage your hands. Whether you see the effects sooner or way later in the future, you won't know til it happens. It's a risk a fighter takes.Comment

Is that what Floyd was babbling about in the post fight press conference when asked about the gloves and he said he's just "looking out for the safety of both fighters"First I said he MAY... so that indicates it's not a guarantee that what I'm saying will happen. It's just a nice possibility.

He was worried about Marcos's hands? Lmao it all makes sense now, what a thoughtful guy.Comment

No, he wasn't worried about Marco's hands. In fact, in terms of hand issues, the maker of Grant was the one that mentioned he'd probably be more concerned with the fighter having hand issues from that style of glove.Comment

What did everyone think?
My biggest complaint is too much of the kids, especially Mayweather's daughter (man she was annoying). Also does anyone really care about Justin Beiber's take on a fight?
Some dumb moments but I liked that they spoke about the gloves. I also thought the way they edited the fight was strange. I know that Maidana controlled mostly early and Floyd late but they took out all of Floyd's good work from early in the fight and made it seem like Maidana was kicking his ass and then I don't think they showed Maidana landing a punch in the second half.
Best part was when they both commented on Broner

The only thing that's terrible is your logic.First I said he MAY... so that indicates it's not a guarantee that what I'm saying will happen. It's just a nice possibility.

Are you in favor of pro boxers wearing helmets by the way? You should be, if not you're being hypocritical.
Oh and one last thing "It's a risk a fighter takes" ... nope apparently it's not up to the fighter if they are fighting floyd ... it's up to floyd.Comment

I didn't say I was in favor of anything. And you talk about logic. The only thing that's terrible is your logic.

I pointed out the risks and noted a fact that 8 oz gloves are powerful no matter the brand. And only keyboard warriors think 8 oz gloves are somehow 'pillows' or try to draw comparisons in them being a wide difference like sneakers versus sandals.
