Arreola was still visibly in poor shape. All this talk about training hard in the gym, it was apparent he could have trained a lot harder because there were still pounds to lose and work to be done.

He should probably leave Ramirez, go train with Garcia and have Ariza as an S&C coach. If he did that, within 1 year he might actually be in decent enough shape to compete at a high level but right now he's not beating any of the top guys. Ramirez is a problem because him and Arreola are good buddies and that actually means Chris gets away with a lot of things that a pro-trainer usually wouldn't allow.

I thought in this World Title fight we'd finally see Arreola transformed but he came into the ring looking as if the training camp was primarily about losing weight, like it always is.

He is just a solid fringe contender. He will never beat a truly world class fighter but is good enough to wipe out any pretenders.
      Very well put.

Gatekeepers have their necessary place in the sport. Arreola is typically in good fights, he's good enough to separate the frauds from the legit, and that's enough.

Its been said by others and I agree: He's a limited fighter, even with the weight loss. He might never be "world class" but that doesn't mean he should "disappear". He's a good fighter who makes for exciting fights. What's the problem?

I have to admit Arreola had me fooled. I probably should have realised when he lost to Adamek, who is closer to a middle-sized cruiserweight than a heavyweight, that he doesn't belong at the top level. I think I thought he was tougher than he is. He's got power, but he's not an especially smart, tough, or fast fighter, and he doesn't have enough power to succeed on it alone.

As others have said, he has usefulness as a gatekeeper.

Andy Ruiz Jr. vs Arreola would be a great fight though.

I don't like Chris as a fighter at all. He's so damn sloppy, he pushes he punches, he doesn't turn them either, elephants move their feet better BUT he's gotta drop his trainer.

How do you lose weight when your trainer is so FAT, I don't even know if his trainers could hold the mitts for him. What kind of motivation a so fat an out of shape trainer could give you to lose weight yourself.

That's my view. He's an entertaining fighter that few would choose to face, that he can still lose a few pounds says we could see a version 3.0. He should maybe consider the UK or Germany where there might be more money and better fights.

Shrek was doing fine til he got his bell rung, and considering the heavyweight landscape right now is not like he is trash now in comparison to the rest.
