I know the only reason I watched Floyd/Chino was to observe the attendance in the arena so I could estimate how much the gate was. What I am really disappointed about is that B-scene didn't go to any trouble to try and get a vid of Floyd going to the bank making withdraws and discussing his finances with the bank manager after the fight.
This is AccountingScene not Boxingscene

Sorry for not being completely ignorant to the business side of the sport.
If one has a better idea of license fees, guarantees, ppv buyrates, gates, etc.. then they have a better idea for the state of the sport and more importantly, what kind of fights are feasible for us to see.
To ignore all of this is the sign of a shortsighted fan.Comment

I don't think the topic starter means that those things should be ignored. But lately, there's been a crazy big focus on those things, which is ridiculous.Sorry for not being completely ignorant to the business side of the sport.

The PPV people seem unfazed.
Why they find the subject of how much money Bob Arum and Richard Shaefer are making perplexes me but when it relates to possible matchups getting made of course you understand why it's relevant. I've been around too long to know that's no sort of excuse though on the whole. It's an easy subject for people who can't handle real boxing chit chat.Comment

Yeah it's so fun analyzing Ward's lawsuits and reading about his court room triumphs. I would much rather do that then watch him fight.Sorry for not being completely ignorant to the business side of the sport.

To the peeps above, numbers are everything!!! You have to be extremely basic to not understand this!!! Any rational people always comes with the ''why s''
The numbers explain a lot and leave less room for vague interpretation...
I guess some of you guys arent in to MMA, but there have been stuff going on there that were very related to numbers IMO.
--Randy Couture a former UFC fighter and extremely popular at the time, wasnt fighting in the UFC because he felt he wasnt being paid enough.
If you dont like numbers than you might think, is he scared to fight or doesnt he like fighting?? etc.
--Fedor Emelienko(the last emperor) was considered the baddest man on the planet and was undefeated for the longest. He never fought in the Prime organisation the UFC because, the UFC said he was to expensive. So all dream matchups the fans wanted to see among the top fighters at that time were impossible. IF you dont like numbers you might think, was Fedor scarded of the UFC-roster??
--Ben Askren an undefeated Bellator champ american olympian wrestler. wanted to go and fight in the promotion called the UFC, to proof that he was the best in the world...
He even stated on camera that he would fight for free if he'll lose, he just wanted a shot in the biggest league. He wasnt alowed in the UFC after just having one meeting, they let him no not interrested. If your not interested in numbers you might think, he that undefeated champ isnt a ufc champ soo he is probably not good enough
If you like numbers than you would know all the UFC care about are ratings, gate numbers and PPV sales. If you are a boring wrestler they are not interested.
For the record: Brock Lesnar, James Toney, Kimbo slice and other with less credentials did made it to the UFC. If you dont like numbers, you might actually think they are more deserving to fight in the biggest league against the biggest fighters. If you like numbers you know that the UfC wants you depending of you sell. Whether you are qualified or not.
--If you dont like numbers you might think that the UFC would like to sign and give a good contract to one of the 2 biggest female MMA fighters in Cyborg. So she could fight Ronda Rousey the other star. Thats what the fans want...
I could go on for days Nate Diaz and Nick Diaz are not fighting Why?? Who are they DUCKING???????????
I am honestly starting to believe a lot of peeps who dont like numbers dont think numbers effect who fights who and who gets or doesnt get a chance to fight...
Thats why a lot of peeps try to call Adonis a duck, instead of trying to find out what short term and long term money he was offered from both sides....
People who dont like numbers tend to know one word it seem and that word it Duck.
I agree if you want to know why things are the way they are you have to value the relevance of numbers IMO.Everything changed with the internet. Too much information available.
People used to go out and buy music albums, now they download it.
You can put a chip in your gaming system to play burned games, and you can burn your own games on your PC using internet.
We can stream fights and skip paying $60-70 dollars.
You can actually see full blown lessons on certain subjects on Youtube.
etc.
Everything changed and you have to deal with it. With the wealth of information the internet has, people become all-around smarter about their favorite things, because they get to read on it deeper and in more detail. What you guys miss is being naive about Boxing, when you didn't know that everything has to do with money. You now blame those who have accepted this and use the information available, as to why boxing is how it is.
Tyson Fury not fighting Wilder was it not because that fight at that time wouldnt bring the deserving numbers? Or is it the simple duck explanation the answer?Comment

Dont worry evey sane person wants to see the matchup, but if the match in the end cant be made, is it because of business or ducking/being scared?
But yeah it would have been a great match if it would ever happen
