When I saw the thread title I thought it was for Pacquiao versus Lance Armstrong in a PED taking then LIE about it later contest or something.

      Sorry, my bad.

What makes you say that? How many times have you seen fight footage of Armstrong? I've seen enough to deduce that he wasn't anywhere as near as fast as Pacquiao and Pac throws his punches a lot straighter better footwork. But Armstrong has him beat in defence (underrated) and his left hook is a very good punch, used it so well against Ross when he was outweighed by some 10 lbs.

It's a tough call, I believe Hank could take a punch better than Pacman but thats not to say Pac cant take a punch. It's a close fight, I reckon HA would beat Pac the first time but with some adjustments, Pac could get the second fight setting up a trilogy. Pacman imo is the better, more educated puncher whereas Hank is the more ferocious (if thats possible) and throws his punches wide, looping them in but he used to throw so many, most guys couldn't counter him LOL.

Noway it's a foregone conclusion here.

Interesting points. In all fairness every fighter that has ko'ed manny or defeated him weren't as fast and none of them are comparable to Armstrong.

armstrong would take a life threatening beatdown as things are, but the times has alot to do with it

back then they fought so often i can't see how they weren't overtrained/overworked, probabley why alot of the fighter weren't as explosive as today

armstrong today would probabley be an absolute monster, but as it stands, a guy from an worn out era where every fighter is in tatters fighting every week or month, no, armstrong too slow, no enough pop to do anything to a well rested modern athlete like pacquiao

but also throw pac into armstrong's era, and who knows

Comparing athletes from 80 years ago to the best athletes from today is unrealistic and frankly laughable.

We can respect the old timers, but at the same time lets be real.
I can't agree with you saying better conditioned. Have you seen Armstrongs work-rate for 15 rounds. It's utter insanity. His conditioning was insane. I've seen Pac tire and not punch for large chunks of rounds many times, even in his prime.

Pacs first couple KOs were at a much lower weight where he obviously wasn't well built, well nutritioned or well conditioned. Since then, not even hard hitting guys like Cotto, Morales, Barrera, Margarito and co have come close to KOing him.

Yes JMM did it but we all know there wasn't something right there.

Is there a chance that Armstrong could stop Pac? Yes, a little chance.

Is there a possibility Pac could catch Armstrong consistently enough? Yes, Zivic could and did and he made Armstrong pay.

Realistically would the fight end with either guy completely out? No.

Both men were, at their peaks, well conditioned and tough as hell, neither man gets stopped here. I think all fights go to the judges but the chance for a stoppage is there cos those four fists in the ring would carry dynamite.

The more I think about this, the more I want this fight to happen lol next Fight Night game!

Pacquiao's advantages in footwork and technical skills might have edged it for him.

Would have gone the distance in a 15 round fight, but Pacquiao takes a close decision for me in a truly epic fight.
                  At 126 Armstrong bulldozes him.

I still think Armstrong could find a way to win, but i think manny is clearly a "type" of fighter that hank has never seen before, so i cant be 100% certain he wins...
Are you sure? there were a lot more variety in styles back then, it's very likely Armstrong had seen all of what pacquiao had to offer especially considering how often he fought.

Let's not forgot a prime pacquiao lost to morales, so let's not hold his or armstrongs losses against them.

Also just as Armstrong may struggle to keep up with the nutritional and training advances of today, pacquiao may struggle with the frequency of fights and their length in armstrongs era. However considering pacquiaos character and background I think he would adapt better than most modern fighters if he were sent back in time.
