They just weren't one dimensional offensively like Floyd Mayweather.

Floyd Mayweather is not the first fighter in history to avoid a punch all those guys up above at great defense at the top of their game, aswell as a vast offense! Mayweather's offense does not match up to his defense!
what are you talking about? im talking about the people who say this... not wat the thread starter said i was replying to something else but how is floyd one demisional tho, he can fight on the inside, outside, he can dig deep if he has to, he can counter punch, fight off the ropes... what is making u say hes one deminsional?

like teddy atlas said tho sometimes he relies too much on his defense. he was more offensive at 130-135 too...

OP should watch another sport, because boxing isn't for him.

Just watch Floyd's fights at 130. He was a beast offensively at that weight.

He has offense on the ropes.
He has offensive in the middle of the ring.
He has offense on the outside.
He has offense on the inside.
He can throw EVERY punch in the book with speed and accuracy.

Yet hes one dimensional do you clowns actually watch the fighterss you dummies post about?
What he's trying to say is offensively he doesn't have much of a arsenal. Ur blinded by his speed. He throws no combinations unless u go into a shell. He has a lead straight right that he throws to try to catch u off guard. He has one little uppercut-straight right that he will throw against the ropes. (he only throws that after throw a 1-2 at him. Its part of his little pad routine he does with Roger. And finally he uses the step an fetch punch which is the quick right hand counter over the jab that he can only do against slow fighters. U seen it alot with gatti and with maidana

Floyd also has a great jab. He used it against De La Hoya, Hatton, Marquez, and Canelo.

I think the TS had made some great points, I don't agree with all of what he is saying and I certainly don't believe that Mayweather's offense is "one dimensional" but it is most definitely limited.

I've said this countless times over the years and it's one of the reasons why I would never rank him above Pacquiao or Hopkins, both these names are close to being complete fighters, not quite on the level of Leonard, Ali, Pep or Robinson but Mayweather is far from what I call a complete or all round fighter.

His defense is very very good but when ever he has gone up against some who has thrown everything but the kitchen sink his way, Mayweather has looked less than stellar, in fact against Maidana and Castillo, he looked far less than an elite fighter (not saying he is). WHy? it's because, against guys who punch, punch, punch and don't let up, there is little Mayweather can do when his defense starts getting penetrated. His straight right hand and check left hook is all he has had.

Some one said that Mayweather from 7-8 years ago was better offensively, the answer is, he wasn't because it's the same thing he did then.

Mayweather is not one dimensional in his offense.

His connecting was around 50% against Maidana, wasn't it?.

Canelo , who has a much better defense that el Chino, got tagged constantly.

What is happining imo that Mayweather is less active and has to keep the fight at a (even) lower pace to look good.

Canelo is not a guy who likes to work hard, thus Floyd looked great.

Maidana is much worse than Canelo, but threw 800 punches against Floyd 400 and made it look closer than it was.

El Chino is a tough guy, big heart, but is not as good as people are making him. Garcia might have polished him a bit, but I'm pretty sure Maidana vs Alexander would still end the same way.

It's a great right hand though, he doesn't telegraph it and it's so quick. I'd just like to see him use more combinations because he has all the shots in his arsenal.
This is the only thing about Mayweather's offense that bothers me. Even my lady complains about it. When he let his hands go Maidana was stuck in quick sand.

Lol. There are legit reasons to have issues with Floyd's offense, volume being one, but this isn't it. Try again.
