finally some sense in this forum... I agree 100% with Cuauhtémoc point of view but also part of the reasons Maidana was hitting low its because of Floyd's elbows , he hit Maidana in many occasions with the high guard elbows first as soon as Maidana started moving forward and tried to put him on the robes

It's a coincidence you say that about styles because yesterday I was thinking--and call me crazy--that a 2012 or even a 2013 version of Shane Mosley would've had more success against Maidana last night. It's the styles.
Definitely could have been, I mean Mosley is one of the best of our times. I'm shocked as to how many people give their opinion on Youtube and don't know **** about the sport.

I'm sure A LOT of people (myself included) oversimplified the match-up and thought that Maidana would not be as successful as he was against Broner. We thought that Floyd would have something in his bag of tricks to nullify Maidana's bull rush offense, or deter him in some way. Maidana took a lot of crisp head-snapping punches but he still kept barging in without regard to what a clean punch was. He was rough housing Floyd and throwing punches everywhere; had he been a cartoon character he would've turned into an octopus right then and there. It is not a knock on him, I thought he looked very good. There were a few moments where I thought he was dirty (mainly the obvious low blow and the knee he attempted), but otherwise he smothered Floyd.

I would love to watch the fight again but I haven't been able to. I caught the fight in a movie theater and had it 7-5 Floyd at the end of the night, but I can't rule out a draw. That was Floyd's closest call in years.
I was one of them and am not ashamed to admit that. I though Floyd would have an easy night with Maidana because he would land that right hand counter with ease. I think one of the most underrated aspects of Maidana's game is his head movement. Floyd didn't really land clean, flush shots on hijm the whole night. There was that one right hand that snapped Chino's head back but outside of that, when is the last time you seen Floyd miss so much?

On an added note, did anybody here think we were on the verge of witnessing a Floyd loss at any point? I was on the edge of my seat at the start where Maidana was teeing off, but calmed down once Floyd looked better in the second. Then when Maidana started looking good again and Floyd was cut for the first time in his career, I could've sworn Floyd was going to fall apart. The way he kept pawing at his eye over and over again made me think his focus was going to dissolve and Maidana was going to take over for the rest of the fight.
Man, this was excitement of the fight. I watched the first 6 rounds thinking "Did Floyd win one round so far?" I thought Maidana would slow down, and he did because it's impossible to keep that pace but I really thought we might see one of the biggest upsets ever.

No bias-ness and makes too much sense to be a NSB worthy thread...

Fair enough points Cuauh, I also scored the mainevent a draw but there were many close rds but have to disagree about Khan. Collazo isn't really a that good he is a journeyman and Khan was supposed to beat him but looked to me to be fighting to protect that glass chin from being shattered again though he is a must watch. I couldn't keep my eyes off that fight because you know disaster could happen any time but didn't. Collazo was too sloppy and I see what he was trying to do but Khan didn't run out of gas and slow down much through the course of the fight.

You know, I think Mayweather will adjust in the second fight. This is the best thing that could have happened to Chino outside of winning of course.

Mayweather says himself he doesn't have a game plan, I believe him. He is so dominant and so good defensively, that he just adjusts to what happens in the ring.

I think in the rematch we will see more movement and they will complain about holding (even though Floyd was the one doing most of the holding) and Maidana won't be able to fight on the inside like he wants to>

Of course anything can happen, but I think Floyd wins another decision imo.

Not at all, I just find it very hypocritical that black fighters can say things like that but imagine if a Hispanic fighter were to say the same thing about blacks? You would have Al Sharpton talking about it the next day and it was be a big deal.

Broner is just a low life that isn't very smart. He better be careful though, because 140 is nothing to *** with.

but yea, can you imagine if any other race said that about a defeated black opponent? Al Sharpton would be marching right now

I think Floyd will win clearly next time too, Maidana is awkward his timing, the angles of his punches its hard to prepare for but he knows what to expect now.

As for Broner, don't worry I am pretty sure he will get beaten up again and ko'd soon maybe by a Mexican someone like Molina.
