Good post, as usual. Agree with everything you said.

I was impressed with Khan because he stuck to a game plan for the entire fight. The question is though, can he do that when he gets rocked. Most fighters revert to type and Khan's downfall is that he either tries to fight his way out of trouble.

I don't think Maidana is a dirty fighter, rough and rugged sure but not dirty. I just think he was frustrated by the holding.
Yeah, definitely rough and rugged, but I don't know where the line is drawn on being dirty. I just know he'll throw the low blows, hip shots in the clinch, attempted elbow on khan, etc.

I think the plan was definitely to rough Floyd up, I'm just not sure where that line is/was drawn. Get rough with Floyd, make him uncomfortable. I just wouldn't be shocked if it was part of the plan.

Yeah that's a good point. Besides the excessive clinching, his inside fight game ******, often times just standing in the pocket taking shots when the ref wouldn't let him hold. I wonder how much of that was him just being cautious, not wanting to get in an exchange and thus not knowing what to do.

In any case, he has a lot more to work on. He need atleast 1 more fight to iron out the kinks before mayweather is even a consideration IMO.

I thought Khan looked more tentative against Diaz last year tbh. He seemed more fluid in his boxing this time. He looked good overall but he's still extremely uncomfortable when an opponent is persistently walking him down. He has to hold or run his ass off. Sometimes that's enough, sometimes it won't be.

          biased mexican nonsense.
DNR is short for did not read, squat.

in all seriousness, crap breakdown. some of the worst stuff you're ever going to read.

only kidding. i want to know what you think of glove-gate. i haven't had my hand in an everlast glove in 10 years. i used everlast when i was growing up. i wear grant, and they're f#cking pillows. they [grant] don't make a puncher's glove. they just don't. the leather is hard, and foam is piled up over the knuckles.

have you ever had your hand in the MX professional model from everlast? and how about the "protec," if i got the name right?

the MX looks like a genuine puncher's glove. soft leather, horsehair over the knuckles.

the protec is the pillow glove that baby hands andre ward uses, right? those things look like they belong in amateur fights. ward's glove in a 10 oz is as big as his flipping head.

I think they see Khan as a potential opponent for Floyd and they don't want to ruin anything in regards to that chance.

Khan is fighting "scared" in a sense, I get it but I liked the old Khan that took chances. Sure he could of gotten KO'd, but I think he could have also KO'd Collazo as well.
He knocked him down three times..
He could of knocked him out if it was worth it the fight was fun.

I think Maidana being frustrated by the holding is a fair point about his fouls later on in the fight but he did throw low blows, rabbit punches and a head butt in the first round. I think he was playing the role of the bully and that meant he would do anything in the ring on Saturday. I expected him to fight a very rugged fight but it was a bit much imo.

                  .
Hunter is right about that. Putting up the earmuffs and standing straight up while the opponent tees off is a very bad habit Khan has. I thought this fight vindicated Hunter to some degree. His reputation was on the line too.

I get you but I was still overall highly impressed by how khan boxed on the weekend. The holding was a bit annoying but hey it's the pros and when you have that chin you gotta take steps to protect it. But his movement and offence was exceptional to me.
