    Mikkel Kessler set for retirement

Sauerland have just confirmed on twitter that Mikkel Kessler will make an announcement on his 'outstanding' career on Wednesday.

On my phone, so can't embed but somebody please do it.

I'm happy Kessler has taken his time to think about the decision and ultimately I feel it's the right one.

I would have liked to see him fight here in Copenhagen once more, but I guess it wasn't to be.

    Great career champ!

      It's retirement for sure.

Can't think of what else it would be.

Hard to say, he's been holding the cards so close, not even his family knows. He can retire as one of the best danish fighters ever, if not the best.

Further than that I think most people genuinely like him. He's a gentleman inside and outside the ring. He'll always be remembered by me.

If it is retirement, then good luck to him, before the Froch/Ward generation, he was the second best SMW on the planet. Not to mention a gentleman outside of the ring.

I don't think you can interpret that tweet as retirement at all.

Was hoping he'd stick around for a bit longer, he could still make some competitive match-ups...if it does turn out to be retirement, good luck to him...was a warrior.

                  I think you can.

Kessler has previously said he wouldn't step in the ring as a father + Sauerland feeling the need to use superlatives to describe his career.

He has been sparring in the gym recently with some of the upcoming prospects, so originally I thought he was going again, but he won't get Froch/Ward in the ring in Copenhagen, so the only other option is Arthur Abraham and I just don't see the demand for that fight at this moment in time.

I think it's retirement, and I hope it is as well. He can be used for other things in Danish boxing.
