Agreed, boxing is about winning rounds. You do not get points pressing the action.Quantity has a quality all it's own.
I still haven't done a good re-watch, but I had it 7-5 Maidana with my rough watch through. For the, "But the clean punches!" guys. Fighting is about winning rounds. One guy bullied and beat the other, and pressed and mostly dominated the action all night. Yeah, Maidana slowed a bit in the back half of the fight, but Floyd just straight up didn't get **** done. The end.
Clean punching
Effective aggressiveness

Mayweather. He landed the cleaner punches throughout the fight.
No "pressing the action" dictates Aggression not Effective Aggression. If you aren't landing **** then it's not Effective so "pressing the action" means absolutely *** all. Moving forward doesn't score points.
You can press the action all night long and get countered to death.Comment

Marcos was effective with his aggression though. He had Floyd pinned on the ropes, grabbing and holding, crying to the ref, etc.Mayweather. He landed the cleaner punches throughout the fight.

Oh, I forgot, he did all of that on purpose to make sure the fans were happy.Comment

How is Chino's aggressiveness effective if he missed over 600 punches? Each round is a single fight. Maidana did not win 6 rounds if you scored the fight by boxing criteria."Pressing the action" is what dictates Effective aggressiveness: A boxer demonstrates this trait when he consistently and successfully moves forward in a controlled manner.
Just sayin'. Maidana also controlled the pace of the fight, which in turn, relates to "ring generalship".Comment
