People Aren't Stating What Was Abundantly Clear Last Night About Mayweather

For the first time in his career I thought Floyd looked old. This fight was more about what Floyd didn't do than what Maidana did. Floyd looked sluggish, he stood flat footed more than I've ever seen and his reaction time was a bit slower. He also liked tired as hell mid way through the fight.

Yeah, even a prime Floyd would have had all he could handle with a prime, aggressive, puncher like Maidana but he also would have defeated him more easily.

Floyd rarely stayed against the Ropes against Canelo, he fought the majority of that fight on his toes and rarely laid on the ropes. He didn't fight much better than Broner. All you diehard Floyd fans got to realize if he keeps fighting he will eventually lose.

That's actually the best way to put it.

He's look old to me since Cotto and has been declining since.

People don't seem to see it because of the dominant victories but he looked in a state of decline in that fight with Cotto and has looked slower and slower since.

Last night although he won against a good top fighter he really looked poor. That's the worst I've ever seen him.

Good point. Mariana fought floyd the right way but, more importantly, at the right time.

He's been old since the Cotto fight. Really the Ortiz fight, IMO.

He looked unbeatable against Guerrero and Canelo because they are boxer/punchers that let him stay comfortable and dictate the fight. Guerrero mauled and brawled against Berto and Aydin but if you watch his run at the lower weight divisions that's now how he fights.

I think it has as much to do with Maidana. Of course, Mayweather has looked a bit slower, not quite as sharp with his reflexes since at least the Mosley fight. It's been noticeable since he fought Cotto. Maidana really beat the hell out of his body, though, and I think that can explain why he looked so worn in the second half of the fight. Props to Mayweather though for responding the way he did.

Anything to discredit the opponent I guess. I've always said that the best way to fight Floyd is to rough him up, not respect him at all, and take away all of his distance. Last night, a boxer finally did that and almost beat him. Floyd looked just as fast as he normally does, he was in the ring against a guy 20 pounds heavier who was stronger than him who brought the RIGHT STYLE to win. The blueprint is out there now and I fully expect Floyd to dodge a rematch at all costs and probably retire to make sure the rematch isn't demanded by the public.

Maidana's body work makes everyone look older than they really are.

Are you an idiot? How can you act like a 37 year old Mayweather hasn't aged at since he was 25? Those were tough fights but he looked worse last night.
