I seriously doubt Floyd would take a rematch with Maidana. He barely got past him this time and at 37 years of age does he really want to be getting into these types of wars? Floyd has always been safety first!
I had it a draw or maybe a 1 point Floyd win. It's almost laughable that Floyd and Floyd fans says that if he could of pot shotted if he wanted when in reality Maidana did all the damage when Floyd was backing up to the ropes. Floyd DID made adjustments after the 6th round,But Maidana was fading and he still manage to win the 8th and 12th round. I believe it was round 7 or round 11 that Mayweather tried to Pot shot, But Maidana was able to cut off the ring so well that Mayweather could barely move. Let's be real, All of the awkward punches of Maidana made Mayweather very uncomfortable and round 4 when Mayweater got cut e reacted like a kid being hit for the first time.
Cong**** to Maidana for a hell of an effort but I believe that Floyd could have made this one sided if he wanted to. Dude looks flawless against Canelo and struggles with Maidana? Now a rematch is set. Floyd is running out of opponents and going into this fight Maidana was a huge under dog. To top it off, Floyd fights to Maidana's strengths. Props to Maidana but Mayweather is not passed it yet. If he is truly fighting like this against a fighter like Maidana then he should retire after his contract with Showtime is up.
Come on, man. Canelo tried to box Floyd which is a nono. Maidana seamed him. Give both fighters their props
so maidana fights a dirty a$$ fight, lands 26% of his punches, and people wanna see it again ?? Ok i guess, another easy payday for floyd, real boxing heads know he didn't go through no trouble in there, maidana fought like a beast, as was expected, but it was ineffective aggression. Dumb a$$ fans wanna hand floyd another easy payday by whining about a rematch. Garcia at the end of round 8 was urging maidana to be dirty, now if floyd's corner had said that, i'm sure people would bring it up, but the truth is, haters don't care how floyd loses as long as he does, maidana was a dirty **** in there and got schooled. Rematch for what..but floyd will cash in on dumb fans and make it happen.
For the rematch, Floyd will demand Maidana literally wear pillows taped to his gloves and Floyd gets to wear his headgear?
Fans actually wanted Pacquiao, but you said you didn't care about the fans. Remember Floyd? Fans want me to fight Pacquiao but I have my health and family to worry about? Fans won't take care of my family when I can't walk straight? LoL
Maidana used the Everlast Protech......made of pure foam.........the gloves that virtually gave CletoReyes a lock on fighters below MW.
In 2009, they developed an answer to the 'puncher's glove' with the Everlast MX aka MXican made in Mexico, similar to the old school Everlast and closer to the Reyes. They didn't let Maidana use those despite the commission approved a pair of Red MX but not the Blue. Who knows what payoff he got to wear the padded gloves, but I doubt he'll agree again.
The MX are a mix of horse hair and foam. They aren't Reyes but feel like rocks compared to the ones he wore tonight. They are the single biggest reason for Everlast making a comeback in the smaller weights.
I don't think Maidana won. I thought he did everything he had available and came damn close. Mayweather was great too but if ever there was a fight where he should have stepped on the gas and knocked an opponent out, this was it. Maidana was shot after 8........one reason why I personally will not consider Mayweather 'TBE'........he doesn't have to knock everyone out, but this wasn't a 10-2 11-1 fight where it would have been best to stay safe. He should have finished it. The check hook was laser-beamed in early. He could have finished that fight with that shot but didn't throw it as much late. Even if no KO......he could have got the KD, which would have made it much clearer.
Guys I watched with were so excited by Maidana's activity they thought I was crazy saying Mayweather landed the cleaner, harder shots. But both guys will be sore.
Mayweather appeared a bit over-trained. A little sluggish at times and definitely not like he was in his recent fights where he barely lost a minute in a couple rounds........
Maidana was the toughest fight of Floyd's career. Yes I've seen them all....... Castillo was tough but not 828 punches thrown tough. Mayweather landed the same number with half the amount thrown. It could have gone to Maidana if he's have had the right draw on judges........I think it was even after six but Floyd won 5 of the last six.
But I still will take a rematch over Khan any day.......
Thanks for the elaborate answer...
Based on the overall boxing performance Floyd won the fight.
The only Maidana's chance was this "rough house" approach -- which he could have performed better with his "usual" MX gloves...
... 115-113 would have been a closer to the truth scorecard. I thought that they will score it a draw...
(I don't see Floyd giving the rematch, as I also don't see Floyd fighting Porter -- who's even rougher that Marcos...)
