Chavez in his prime had all the tools to beat the floyd of today, he may or may not have beaten him for this is boxing and NOTHING IS WRITTEN IN STONE TILL IT ACTUALLY HAPPENS... but he sure had all the tools.

I think most people here only are only old enough to remember the 1990's bulky JCC. Not the athletic, well conditioned prime JCC who destroyed Azabache Martinez, Roger Mayweather, Edwin Rosario, and Meldrick TNT taylor.

Also, dont kid urselves, Castillo is good, but JCC was considerably better than castillo. He cut off the ring better, he had higher elevated thinking when it came to what should he do next to make his offense effective. He knew when to back up and when to go forward (this is major, as castillo needs to be told when to do so), Chavez defense was also better, and probably so was his chin (Rosario couldnt faze Chavez).

Everything that made Castillo effective against Floyd, Chavez did better, quicker, and more effective. I think everyone (who actually saw prime chavez) can at least admit that.

I agree with that, and even though I said I think Floyd would take a decision, I also said it could go either way. I have seen much of Chavez's work in the 80's and early 90's, and he definitely had the tools to beat Mayweather. I, however, disagree with the statement that he destroyed Taylor. Richard Steele gave that fight to Chavez. So, yes, I agree that Chavez had the tools to beat Mayweather. But at the same time, it would be safe to say that PBF has the tools to beat a prime JCC, as well. I don't think that can be disputed.

        Simple.

If JCC could get to him late in the fight, he takes over.

If Floyd could run away and not get hit....land a couple of flashy punches...he could win the fight.

He could not pull a Meldrick Taylor on JCC. That would not work.

No offense bro, but i hate threads like this.

Everything is speculation, opinions, and what if's.

every fighter has agruments that will theoritically "win" the fight for him or "lose" fight for him.

** Easy fight to call. JC by default. You think Roy is crazy enough to face JC when he's scared of all the top 140-147 fighters?

              NO WAY, Jose!

I see it MUCH more like Pernell-Chavez.

Taylor had fast hands but was not a great defensive fighter. Whitaker and mayweather are great defensive fighters.

Mayweather wins 10+ rounds to an easy decision...JUST LIKE PERNELL DID.

But Mayweather hits harder and has a good chance of stopping JCC.

A prime Chavez would eventually TKO Floyd, mainly because of his ability to cut the ring. No one cut the ring like a prime Chavez.
