Wow, Showtime needs to get it together.

Golden Boy needs to get it together. Their whole business plan seems solely geared towards a guy who isn't even on their roster and just pays them a fee. They have completely neglected their actual fighters and it's showing in the ratings. That's probably a huge source of the conflict with Schaefer/DLH.

Richie Rich seems more concerned with bowing to Floyd and Haymon than promoting GB fighters.

But to be fair to the card, the playoffs were on at the same time. I know I was switching back and forth between the fights and basketball games.

And yet, we have this BS "cold war" between Schaefer and Arum, which extends to Showtime vs HBO. Oscar's trying to make a change by opening the door to deal with TR, but may end up on an island if Schaefer and Haymon team up and leave GBP. Way to go Rich and Al! You guys rock! Showtime and HBO's budgets are public knowledge. There pretty much equal, look it up. And because I know you were spawned from one of those rachet producing section 8 farms, I'll even tell you how to look it up.

I think Showtime/GBP will be matching their stars in the second half of the year and it's those ratings you can really judge them on.

It's hard for fans to make any real sense of these numbers of course, because only a handful of journalists have ever made the effort to find out what's good and bad for the networks. And none of them, despite the endless scribbling about the 'cold war', have given us any hard facts about what the profit/loss breakdown is like on one of these cards.

To give this some context though, Rios vs Acosta did 700k on Showtime around the same time of year in 2011. A little earlier in the year, Herrera vs Provodnikov did around 600k (I think) on FNF.

You would have to wonder if Showtime can justify outspending HBO for ratings like these, falling as they do within a 60-80% range of what HBO would expect. I don't know of course, because I've no idea how much money they're making or losing on these cards. But it doesn't make immediate sense when you do a flat comparison between the two.

That wasn't some middle of the road rating for SHO, it was actually amazing at the time. SHO ratings used to be pretty terrible, even for the big super 6 stuff.

Ward-Froch fight on Showtime peaked at 580,000 viewers.

05/14/11 - SHO - Ward vs. Abraham - 610,000 average viewers

January 7, 2011 - Prodvonikov/Herrera - 545,000 live viewers

In early 2011 FNF's had some really big ratings for some reason, I haven't been keeping track like I used to but they were considerably down last I checked.

January 28, 2011 - Arreola/Abell - 734,000 live viewers

In my opinion the ratings were solid, if it wasn't for the Figs bore and crap rating it would have a good average.

If 1 million plus is considered a home run on SHO then 830k has to considered very good.
