    Matthysse and Thurman, yay.

vs Julio Diaz and J. Molina? Oh.

Lol, i'm going to watch it, because, well, why not? I have Showtime and time to kill. All I watch is boxing, Cosmos/Science Channel, Arrow, and only Boxing is on today so why not. But i'm not too excited about it.

Nobody is changing their tune on anything, I felt this card was poor on paper when the card was announced, hours before the card started, and days after the card.

(watched the matthyse vs Molina ) replay after seeing all the tweets etc. I am assuming a lot of fans thought the same thing.....put on a competitive fight on paper and people will tune in (For example Porter vs Thurman) independent of how it plays out. Hopkins is also a waste of premium channel time. His fights are really boring.

      1. I already forgot what the first fight was. I would have to google it, I can't think of it at the top of my head right now.

      2. Matthysse vs Molina was not supposed to be the great fight it ended up being. It was supposed to be a blow out 3 round massacre by Matthysse.

      3. Thurman vs an old Julio Diaz is not main event worthy.

Sure I caught the fights and Matthysse-Molina was great, but I wasn't going to watch the card TBH. So I imagine casuals and other less interested boxing fans passed on the night. Hopkins vs Shumenov that other Saturday too? Sure I love watching B-Hop, but Shumenov Who? Porter vs Malignaggi sounded more interesting.

You want good ratings, put up good fights on paper and on fight night. People aren't psychics, they see a blow out fight on paper, they won't watch, because they think it'll be a blow out/waste of time. It doesn't matter if the fights end up being good, fans can't know that for sure.

Wow man at least quote me. LOL JK I am also sick of all the showcasing....its pathetic.

yea lol,, you see how it goes. if this was HBO in the title this thread would be hot. but threads gone pretty quiet. like i said , alot of guys cant call a spade a spade. whatever promo. company there fav fighter on they commit undying loyalty to. if they came out and said yea im a biased idiot,, then whatever. but they damage control contradict themselves,, mocking numbers and when it comes back to them they use the same excuses the fanboys on the other side used.

When Ken Hershman was running showtime sports we were getting good match ups vasquez vs marquez for example, meanwhile at HBO Ross Greenburg was giving us the Al Haymon treatment showcase fights with overpaid hype jobs. After Greenburg got fired, HBO hired Ken Hershman to run HBO sports. Espinoza is a GBP"s tool just like Greenburg was. Now shotime is getting the Al Haymon treatment mismatches in half empty venues with overpaid hype jobs. So you have Matysse and Keith in the same card But instead of facing each other we have these two mismatches, Molina was supposed to be out of there by the 3rd round. This was supposed to be in sports center's highlights. The Matysse fight brought morse questions than answers. Al Haymon is reluctant to let his fighters face each others. After Floyd retires GBP will be in trouble.

Card wasn't poor,, may be somewhat of a showcase. but i think its fair to say fig, thurman, and lucas are big guns.

Those numbers have to be disappointing to Showtime. They are a throwback to the old ratings they used to get, when they rarely cracked 1 million viewers.

If I was to guess why this happened I'd say that it's because there had been a boxing drought lately. If the casuals go too long without boxing on TV they tend to forget about it and won't remember when they are supposed to tune in. That plus it wasn't a spectacular card and the NBA Playoffs were going on.

You're right. These ratings happen when B fighters beat down on bums.

They arent really big guns. Not one fighter on that card has ever been the headline of their own card. They are good fighters but that are usually b sides or undercard guys.
