Well independent of how the fights turned out (Matthyse vs Molina), this card looked like a showcase for all 3 fighters (Matthyse, Figueroa, Thurman)......Molina was going up in weight and Thurman is fighting an over the hill old Diaz.....I don't waste my time with predictable outcomes and didn't tune in. (watched the matthyse vs Molina ) replay after seeing all the tweets etc. I am assuming a lot of fans thought the same thing.....put on a competitive fight on paper and people will tune in (For example Porter vs Thurman) independent of how it plays out. Hopkins is also a waste of premium channel time. His fights are really boring.

Topping out at 835k isn't bad
Interesting that they put Mayweather's Showtime views in there

Ratings are kind of an odd topic when it comes to the pay channel, normally they are the be all and end all with TV but that is how most channels make money selling time, the premium networks have a totally different model.

So people make a big deal about rating and the companies losing money but those ratings don't directly equate to that. Essential both lose money spending on boxing because they don't make anything directly off boxing (or any other of their unique programming for that matter) but it does give them that unique programming that people will want to watch live first run.

It is always interesting to see what the ratings are, but I find the trends more interesting than the one off rating because there are a lot of things that go into ratings for any one evening.

And yet, we have this BS "cold war" between Schaefer and Arum, which extends to Showtime vs HBO. Oscar's trying to make a change by opening the door to deal with TR, but may end up on an island if Schaefer and Haymon team up and leave GBP. Way to go Rich and Al! You guys rock! At this rate, boxing will implode and eventually diminish into a puff of smoke.

Me too but this is NSB. You choose a side or one will be chosen for you and you will be labeled that.

I am a hardcore boxing fan and barely wanted to see this card.

                    1. I already forgot what the first fight was. I would have to google it, I can't think of it at the top of my head right now.

                    2. Matthysse vs Molina was not supposed to be the great fight it ended up being. It was supposed to be a blow out 3 round massacre by Matthysse.

                    3. Thurman vs an old Julio Diaz is not main event worthy.

Sure I caught the fights and Matthysse-Molina was great, but I wasn't going to watch the card TBH. So I imagine casuals and other less interested boxing fans passed on the night. Hopkins vs Shumenov that other Saturday too? Sure I love watching B-Hop, but Shumenov Who? Porter vs Malignaggi sounded more interesting.

You want good ratings, put up good fights on paper and on fight night. People aren't psychics, they see a blow out fight on paper, they won't watch, because they think it'll be a blow out/waste of time. It doesn't matter if the fights end up being good, fans can't know that for sure.

thats an over exaggeration. all of these fighters have been on showtime before multiple times and they will be in the future.
