He went 12 rounds with Wlad because Wlad fought like a little girl who hadn't seen her parents in years with all the hugs he was giving.Comment

Some American fans tned to underestimate the HW division simply because there haven't been a top American contender for a long long time.
Apart from the Klitschko brothers who are, like it or not, masters of the sport, let's list some contenders of nowaday that would easily be contenders in the 70's-80's :
Povetkin ; Haye ; Jennings ; Tyson Fury ( if he's on his A game, but we still don't reall know who he is) ; Solis ( despite the Thompson loss).
I believe all those guys would have given some problems to the likes of Foreman, Michael Spinks, Holmes ( especially Povetkin), Marciano, Schmelling and Frazier.
But what some guys tend to forget here, is that YOU CANT COMPARE old-school fighters wuth today's fighters when it comes to athleticism, strenght and conditioning.
Foreman was considered as a "big" heavyweight on his own time. Today he wouldn't match up at all with the likes of the Klitschkos, Joshua, Fury or Wilder in terms of physique.
The Klitschko brothers would have been a threat to anybody in boxing history. But above all, they are great athletes, disciplined, hard-working, intelligent and complete professionals. That's what makes them very impressive!Comment

It's not that, the guy acts like Wlad just lost flat out or something. It doesn't negate the win, but it wasn't just a cut and dry win. Much like the other guy on here keeps talking about how Toney lost to Peter in the first fight. There's something to be said for the close first fight even if it was a loss. You bozo's can't have it both ways.Last edited by Boxing Goat; 05-28-2014, 09:20 AM.Comment
