147 is too deep at the moment. Too many good fighters. If you add the possible fights from guys at 154 and 140 moving down/up for fights, the potential match-ups are limitless.

What's not to understand? Porter beat the hell out of Alexander. There aren't that many fighters who are clearly better than Alexander at welterweight. So there probably aren't many welterweights who will beat Porter.

Why can't fans be excited about fighters without our enthusiasm being dimmed under this notion that the fighters in question need to prove themselves?

I can understand if that applies to someone like Deontay Wilder, who has fought woeful, over-matched opposition. We don't even know if he can take a punch, or even box a little.

But at least Porter and Thurman have at least fought good, if unspectacular opposition.

I like that boxing fans are demanding and tough, but at some point......yes, it's fine to get excited about what Golovkin, Thurman and Porter bring to boxing. How else do these guys build buzz if the boxing community isn't even allowed to within itself?

They are both proven and legitimate top 10 contenders. You don't need to be on the pound for pound list or beat a fighter on the pound for pound list to be considered proven.

You prove yourself by beating other ranked contenders and both Thurman and Porter have done that.

Uhh, Porter step up ts?? He's a champ who took the title from the champ. Define stepping up please. Cause it sounds like you don't know what that means.

Porter fought 2 guys he could walk right through. When he fights One time, he's not gonna get away with lunging in with wild left hooks. He'll get hit all night and maybe stopped. I like both guys but neither has beaten a guy on each other's level.

GTFOH!!!! Nobody was picking Porter to beat Alexander. Boxing fans STAY trying to revise history. He was a replacement opponent and was supposed to be a tuneup for Devon. In fact, the fight was originally supposed to be in St. Louis as a showcase fight just in case Alexander vs. Mayweather was going to happen.

People wrote Porter off completely after the draw with Diaz.

Buddy, I'm talking about power wise..he fought 2 feather fisted opponents in no row. His reckless bull rush style will get him laid out against Thurman.

Funny part is Porter and Thurman both would probably beat every opponent Floyd has fought in the last 5 years minus maybe Canelo but both Porter and Thurman are big WW so they maybe could handle him as well.
