lol @ this thread. Yeah Floyd needs to rethink the very same marketing image he portrays that made him one of the highest paid athletes and biggest PPV star.

He's at the tail end of his career literally, and you want him to revamp his image. Showtime wants to make money, not give a certain segment of boxing fans what they want, it's clearly obvious that his money persona brings him way more money than anything else. It's simple business that you some of you guys clearly can't comprehend. There's new people tuning in fight so obviously his schtick isn't old for many.

The whole purpose of these pre-hype programs is to produce interest and $, and it has yet to fail with Floyd even with many people of these forums calling it lame and boring which isn't true for the majority of the population tuning in or detractors (who continually to inadvertently support his events).

It's like saying Kim Kardashian should stop being an attention whore, how do you think she got into the spotlight?

Money defines Mayweather. He's created a system of boxing and getting huge purses. He's been at it since the nineties. Kind of amazing.

That would sure as hell be more interesting than watching Floyd preach about money

Beg to differ. Again, if we go back in time and Floyd impersonates the Andre Ward persona outside the ring versus the "Money" May persona -- do you really think he banks close to as much? It's not even in the same neighborhood.

Now I'm not saying that the persona is the lone or overriding reason that he's worth as much as he is. The number one factor in all of this, of course, is being one of the top boxers on the planet. Without that nobody gives a f**k. Otherwise Adrien Broner would be the richest fighter on the planet. Gotta be elite to be relevant and that Floyd is. But, a conservative outside the ring Floyd Mayweather achieves nowhere near the notoriety, fame, or income he has without this current persona.

Even Andre Ward has said as much. Recently Ward said that he wasn't willing to "project a certain type of image" in order to climb the heights that a guy like Floyd has (as far as purses and audience appeal goes). Kellerman also touched on this same thing in the last episode of The Fight Game.

To think that Floyd's persona, hate it or love it, didn't open many more doors for him is insane.

                  The Maidana segments were good.

It's working for him and he only has three more fights left after Maidana so why try to fix something that isn't broken?
