Tyson was vastly overrated, that's a 5 for Lewis,

Holyfield was a 8 but he was a roid cheat, but if anything that makes Lewis's win even better

So you giving Marciano ZERO credit yet you are giving Floyd credit?

Mosley hadn't fought in 16 months prior to fighting Floyd. At his age, that is like a retirement. Mosley was older than Louis. Louis was active (fought 8 times that year) while Mosley was inactive. For HWs, 37 is not very old. Mosley was closing in on 39.

After Louis retired for 2 years, he came back and fought 10 times and had an 8 fight winning streak and was ranked higher than Marciano.

Here is rankings prior to the fight:
Joe Louis was ranked #1 and Marciano was #10

On Oct. 27, 1951, the 28-year-old Marciano took on the 37-year-old Joe Louis. Coming into the bout, Marciano was a 6½-to-5 underdog.[8] Marciano upset Louis in what was the latter's last career bout. The result left Marciano with mixed emotions, as Louis had been his childhood idol

I'm curious, which one should get more credit.....Rocky over Louis or Floyd over Gatti?

Question Mr. Boxing fan.......since you claim Mosley was a top p4p fighter, why do you not give De La Hoya credit for beating Whitaker?
Whitaker was ranked higher in the P4P than Mosley when Oscar fought him.
Whitaker is greater than Mosley overall.

It's not his fault Joe wasn't younger.

Louis is arguably the greatest heavyweight boxer in history and even though he was past his best he would have still beaten many of the best boxers around at the time.
                Great post. Well said.

Comparing what Joe Louis was when he fought Marciano to what Pacquiao is now.....wow and you call yourselves boxing fans???

Pacquiao is wayyyyy better still than Louis fighting Marciano, Lennox or Tyson in their fight, Ali fighting Holmes, Oscar fighting Pac, it's not even comparable.

Get outta here......Mosley was one of the biggest and most anticipated fights at that time and EVERYONE......EVERYONE said Floyd would duck him. His last time out, he TKO'd Margarito and was THE REAL #1 Welterweight.

                    Talk about re-writing history.

Oscar gets credit for Whitaker........but some felt he didn't really win that fight too convincingly.
