Hatton laid the blueprint in beating paulie which was a lead left hook. Paulie likes to keep his right hand low which leaves his chin open. Porter must of been watching the hatton/paulie fight because porter was landing left hooks at will.

An interesting and very exciting addition to the Welterweight division. I saw quite a bit of him a few years ago and he was still finding his identity (lots of wasted motion/lateral movement, passivity) and he has improved tremendously since then. Something seems to have clicked. He has great chemistry with his dad too in terms of fighter/trainer relationship.

All this stuff about....."let's see how he handles a counter-puncher with movement who has good power"......I mean, who the hell DOES look good against that kind of style?

Also, New England is right. Porter would destroy Khan and Brook.

          - that surprised me as Malignaggi really isn't known for being the strongest fighter - especially as he's really a natural 140 pounder. Of course this was just based on the 1½ rounds where he actually had his full faculties with him.

          2) Lack of technique

          - Porter leaps in on many occasions, without purpose. He swings wildly time after time AFTER Malignaggi was hurt which shows a little lack of composure and something that could hurt him when he moves up against bigger stronger guys.

          3) Complaining

          - He complained after the first round that Malignaggi punched him behind the head. As the going gets tough, he needs to show up in the big fights. What is he going to do when a Maidana will smash him up everywhere from the hips and upwards?

Of course, some of these points may not apply to him further down the line - and other than the points above, he looks an awesome prospect.

To be real I thought Malignaggi was going to box his way to a boring UD and set up a match later in the fall with Danny Garcia or another etc etc I wasn't completely sold on Porter's win over Alexander but what I mean not 'sold' is in terms of him not being 'elite' BUT that doesn't mean he's not a damn good fighter because he is; flaws or not like the rest of the group.

I did enjoy the Paulie fight and the way he put him flat on his back nobody's had a chance to do that since he moves and sticks too much whether or not he's feather fisted. But to say the least he put a better show then Broner and yes a great add on to the already hott Golden Boy WW pool.

I think Porter fights how he needs to. He's not as crude as people are going to try to label him.. and having said that.. crude gets the job done just as well as refined more often than not, just depends who the better man is

What I liked about that was how he tagged Paulie with overhand rights from the same position, and after a while Paulie wasn't sure what was coming when Porter dipped his lead shoulder. If you look at Paulie as Porter throws that leaping left hook that did all the damage, he almost looks like Broner did before Maidana dropped him with the same shot. Caught in two minds and wide open because of it.

Even in how he dismantled both I saw holes in his defense, so I'm not sold, don't understand how everyone else is. When you got a fighter like Porter, one who operates in that kind of a style, isn't it logical to see how well he knows how to pick his spots and isn't he suppose to show that against a good counter puncher with good power?
I agree he looks pretty limited to me & he's very sloppy

can you imagine the noise the brits would be making if porter were one of their own? porter is just some kid who was too small to play high level football. we are all shawn porter.

This has nothing to do with Brook or Khan lol. Why do you want to take it there?

As i've said in this thread already, he's an awesome talent. Just pointed out where he's a bit crude - all reasons I think stand to reason.
