arum should just make the fight and then sign the extension, what is the problem with that??
canelo made 8 mil fighting angulo on a 350k ppv and chavez made 3 mil fighting maravilla on a 700k ppv, if you do the math then something is wrong...
i dont like chavez jr as a person or fighter but no denial he is a draw...

As much as we call the kid lazy, fat, born with a silver spoon, he is absolutely right on this one.

The guy is constantly one of the top attractions on TV on HBO. And he's been a guy in whom Top Rank hasn't really lost money in. I understand that promoters pour lots of money into fighters at the beginning building them up and often times losing money in promotions as is the case with Mikey Garcia, but Chavez Jr. has always been money to Top Rank.

Hope he stands his ground, and demands the money he deserves.

I have to side with Chavez Jr on this one. Their current contract is for 1 more fight, 1 more fight means the GGG fight. Top Rank is being super shady by making him sign another extension to get that last fight.

So what is is Top Rank gonna do if he doesnt agree? Shelf him for that last fight?

I thought it was 475,000 pay per view buys?

if i were top rank i wouldn't invest too much into chavez jr and let him go.....he has no real commitment to the sport and he will never beat the likes of ward, ggg or froch...
Well he's still something now. His numbers have diminished since his Sergio loss.... might as well use it up. He has looked more motivated as of lately... but it's probably because he's not struggling so hard to make 160 anymore

People here talk without knowing anything about the finances of a company.
First of all Showtime is not losing any money, and even if they were, they have the full backing from CBS to continue to grow their boxing audience. CBS is willing to pour money from their massive budget into Showtime, so like you mention they can take HBO's audience.

ABsolutely. good post. CBS makes enough profit off advertising from sitcoms, 60 minutes, and football to finance boxing for years.

and chavez jr still struggled against vera the first fight and that fight was well above 160.....jr is unpredictable...u can invest all this money and time in keeping him but who knows whether he'll miss weight again or fail a test again or look mediocre against another journeyman........
Well, they can do what they want with him.

He has one more fight with Top Rank, we'll see how it goes. Top Rank has taken care of him since then and GBP/Top Rank will work together if there's a purse bid. WBC will force a purse bid with Bika and GBP, so there's no worry there about a title shot

He is vengative with Rigo for him beat Nonito. I agree that chavez jr has the right to see the nunbers and ask for a fair share of the revenues. What he is asking is reasonable.
                    Now you're learning.
You kept saying Mikey was hiding from the Gamboa fight, but I tell you it's Arum. Like you said he's vindictive. He is still made that Gamboa walked out on him and won't offer him another big fight purse. Mikey Garcia had an interview on ESPN deportes with Miguel Cebreros. You should listen to it, in it he says he feels he was being lied to about the money situation with Gamboa and other fights, which is one reason he is suing.

Actually, bob sold gamboa's contract to 50 cent a few months before the PED story about the miami clinic broke.
