But when Tyson does it....it makes headlines. Sure he's the most famous fighter in and out of the ring, but he is also the most notorious.
God knows I think Tyson is a major scumbag, but take him out of the equation for a second and think about how the family will benefit a little bit from some financial assistance...Regardless of what Tyson's personal motive(s) are, they're a little bit better off today than they were before the donation.

I agree completely. To call this a stunt is downright ignorant. Its ignorant because Tyson doesn't give two ****s about the media or what they think. People who hate Tyson are still gonna contiue to hate him no matter what he does, as evidenced to some of the posts in this thread.

Exactly! Mike could do nothing, but he chose to do something. Hes not doing this to erase his past wrongs, when has ever tried to do that? Hes doing this becasue he GENUINELY cares about the family.

That's a very valid point. I'll tell you what....you're right. That was a very good individual deed. I simply was expressing outrage at the idea of his redemption.

You made mention of something about innocent people getting put in jail, which is a broader comparision to completely different cases...That's what I meant.

Ironically the only people who brought that up are you and the others who hate Tyson. Nowhere in the article did it mention that, nor did me or any other Tyson fans mention the fact that he was doing this for peronsal redempion, you know why? Becasue hes not doing it for personal redemption Hes doing this becsue he really cares, he has no personal motive, tell me one other time where he tried to redeem himself by doing an act like this?

If I said that I was going to raise money for this family, I doubt that much would be raised. Tyson seems to be using his name and his fame for the purpose of raising this money.
God alone knows his true reasons for doing it. The good news is either way, if completed, those who are hurt will receive some sort of comfort from others who desire to help.
