  • Pacquiao vs Larios set May 20 in Manila

    By Salven L. Lagumbay

The big tune-up bout for superstar Manny Pacquiao against former WBC superbantam king Oscar "Chololo" Larios has been scheduled to take place on May 20 in Manila.

Reports coming out of Mexico have indicated that Rafael Mendoza, the adviser for Larios, has already agreed to the terms and conditions of the said fight, which is going to be a 10-round non-title event preparatory to Pacquiao's mammoth rubbermatch with Erik Morales on September 16 in Las Vegas.

No venue has yet been set, although the Araneta Coliseum seems to be the front-runner to snag the fight, which is going to be one of the biggest boxing extravaganza since the Thrilla in Manila.

The card is expected to be a matchmakers' and fans' delight, with an array of topnotch fighters penciled in to see action on the undercard.

Among those considered to fight in the card are WBC light-flyweight kingpin Brian Viloria, WBO Asia Pacific bantam titlist Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista, WBC no. 1 minimumweight and OPBF champ Rodel Mayol, OPBF super-feather ruler Randy Suico, and RP super-featherweight boss Jimrex Jaca.

Don't worry about payment this is backed up by HBO.

And I'm giving props to Chololo for taking this fight. Despite seeing what the Pacman has done to his heavier compatriots (MAB and Eric)he has the balls to still go for it.

This is going to be exciting.

Larios is a good fighter. I'm happy that Pac is not fighting a bum. Pac wins this one by KO.

Well boxrec.com has it already listed and scheduled under both fighters. Looks like it could be a done deal. Now this isn't something you can say, Oh look at this simple tuneup Manny is taking. The guy has nearly Barrera's record! Over 55 fights! Only 4 losses. Like I said, Manny had better come into this, prepared as all hell. Larios is gonna give Manny a fight. And if he can't do that, he'll try to outbox Manny because he's tall and lanky like Morales and has a nice jab.

That's right, this is not a simple tune up fight for Pacman reason why HBO is beaming it live to the U.S.

Larrios might not have the power that Pacman have but he has the ring experience and can come up with a suprising fight plan to offset that. Pacman cannot take this guy lightly.
