    From ESPN:
That idiotic smartphone/tablet ppv in China estimate in your second quote was based on half the smartphones in China buying the $5 ppv IIRC. Think about what percentage of US households purchase boxing PPVs. That should put into perspective the absurdity of half the smartphone owners in China purchasing a $5 PPV in a country where median household income is just over $10,000. It was a laughably optimistic projection.

Not really, MGM is only place where boxing can get away with overcharging the hell out of boxing events.

Fights can be held anywhere, but the top 17 out of 20 all time sales have been at the MGM.

I get the feeling this won't bother Arum too much, if he was as pîssed off as he sounded he I doubt he was going to do business with them again. He wouldn't have made those comments if he wanted to maintain a healthy business relationship with the MGM. Or that's how I see it.

The only person offended is Arum, he only brought phillipinos into it because he knows how to whip them up easily, Pac wasn't the only fighter fighting on that card, why wasn't Americans offended if we listen to Arum? Why only Filipinos? The man is a fool, He promotes Pac not MGM, he should make sure everything is in place for his fighters leading up to the fight, MGM have too many sport athlete in around their company. So whilst they were wrong in not taking Mayweather- Maidana posters off they can't be crucified if no one from Top Rank notice it themselves until it was too late.

Plus, Top Rank has a number of young fighters in their stable...they could probably build Oscar Valdez nicely at the Forum.
I like that idea because that kid valdez is NICE.

on the thread topic.....Arum's indifference toward losing the MGM is a little concerning, but if it leads him to fostering a new venue in Vegas..or going back to taking fights to local venues like the Forum then maybe it will be better for boxing fans, and local fighters. not all of these fights need to be in Vegas

as far as Vegas...some of these fights can be held in smaller venues....some of his smaller shows. Vanes-Lara fought at the Wynn, Hatton-Castillo fought at Paris I think, Palms, Thomas and mack like you mentioned. There are a couple of non-MGM spots, but definitely not as grade A like the MGM..so this is still unfortunate

This is my belief, my exact belief. He just doesn't care anymore, he knows he is old and going soon, he is like my grandad before he passed away, he pissed everybody off, he didn't care if he was going to talk to you or see you again tomorrow, he knew no matter what he would pass away soon and soon enough he was gone.

The question is what can they do down the road with Zou Shiming in Macau/China, not just Pacquiao.
