I thought it was Lomachenko's people that wanted things accelerated.

Word. Seems too good to be true though. Lomachenko has other options at Top Rank to get a title shot. I wouldn't be surprised if they pull him out.

Top Rank is getting beat to the button but this is a good match up I favor Loma more since he proved he can narrowly hang in there with an experienced fighter while at disadvantages. It's a good thing the hype died and he's being treated as quality contender not a sweeping star.

Whoever wins this fight, if it happen, will get a lot of hype...and will milk it for a while.

In the Lomachenko-Russell fight, Lomacheko gets 60% of the winning bid ($631,350) & Russell gets 40% ($420,900). #boxing

There had to be some sort of back room deal, which would explain the close (had to know) bids. I would guess Top Rank placed their bid, advised HBO, and HBO scoffed. Top Rank then talked to GBP, and said we will let you know what we bid, if you give our guy 60%, and GBP agreed (with possibly a percentage of Lomo for the next couple fights).

This is the only way I can see Lomo getting 60% of the bid that GBP won.

Its WBO rules. The foreign fighter automatically gets 60%.

Ahh section 13B (B) "If the fight is held in the country of origin, residence or nationality of one of the contender, the resident contestant shall receive 40% and his opponent shall receive 60% off the total purse offered."

haha if that is the case, maybe Top Rank placed a high bid, and let it slip out on purpose knowing GBP would have to shell out 60% if they took it.

Either way GBP found out somehow what Top Rank bid. Maybe Top Rank leaked it on purpose. Who knows..
