To be fair Loma did the pushing not TR. He would only sign a contract with Top Rank would get him an immediate title shot. He wanted to make history.

Top Rank usually does a good job building up prospects, but Loma didn't want that.

      Loma still wins.

      Russell could still pull out.

Can this be the first step to ending the Cold War? Can this fight actually be good for boxing?

Nothing like that, it went quickly to purse bid because both sides had no expectations of even talking about dealing.

Could someone explain in detail how purse bids work? So since GB won will the fight be broadcasted on SHO or how does it work? Who pays Lomachenko?

I'd appreciate someone sharing the knowledge!

lol at GBP beating TR by 2.5k. You're already bidding over a million dollars, you can't spare 2.5k to match GBP?

Golden Boy won the right to promote the fight. They will choose the date and the location of the event and since it will be a Golden Boy card, Showtime will probably televise. Top Rank will send one of their representatives for Loma.

The bout is for a vacant belt and in this case the purse split is 50-50.

The winning promoter gets to promote the fight, of course, and so gets to determine on which network it is aired.

The bid purse split to the fighters is already set from the rules in place by the sanctioning body. This split is always based almost solely on the rankings of the fighters.

Hope that helps a little bit.

It does not work like that. It's a meeting in a room sat round a table where anyone who wants to bid takes in a sealed letter containing their bid and when you are told to open your letter and reveal your bid then that is final. You can't randomly say '' Hey i want to increase my bid to match or beat my arch rival's winning bid''. LoL. Top Rank came up short, it happens on to the next one for them.
