OP basically started a thread based on a comment I made in another thread. At least give credit where it's due.

Just to clarify, are you using the acronym BS for 'Boxing Scene' or the far more widely used abreviation of 'BullS#it'? - from your tone I suspect the former but to avoid confusion NSB or 'Scene are the more widely used colloquialisms when refering to this forum.

I've been thinking this for a while. Just looking at most of the big punchers over time they all had very wide backs for their size.

I always found guys who have the rounded backs and shoulders, to have naturally more average power. They seen to be able to generate big leverage. There are exceptions to every rule though.

I LOLed about legs being overrated, try to throw a punch while sitting on the stool, you wont be able to hurt even Amir Khan...

The perfect example to your description would be one of the hardest hitters of all time: Julian "The Hawk" Jackson

Look at the backs and shoulders of guys like Julian Jackson, Ron Lyle, George Foreman or even someone like GGG or David Lemieux. They are rounded, with the shoulders rounded towards the front more.

Those are the guys who seem to have built in leverage. The more straight back and shouldered guys don't usually

i do agree that legs = power is overrated, but speed is power.... (with strong support behind the punch that is)
i think i know what you're getting at though. some ppl aim to throw with so much, speed they don't fully "flex"(?) on the impact, so there's a lot less support in the punch, which leads to the arm "absorbing some of the power" itself... but with all else equal, more speed = more power :/ (no ****!)

overrated indeed. just need legs strong enough for foundation + a bit of explosiveness..
and you forgot thomas hearns .

lol.. it is overrated, and punching while sitting on a stool is a pretty bad way to support your point.
try punching standing without your arms.
                    what the ****? yea.

I agree, you need legs to throw proper punches but many people still say that "power comes from the legs" which is not true.
