It wasn't a bad first offer, and I don't think people realise how a negotiation works. You never start off with what you're prepared to offer, because you diminish your bargaining position and run the risk of missing out on getting more than you hoped for.
A: I'll offer you 40,000,000 for the fight.
B: How about 15,000,000 and 40% of the revenue.
A: 30,000,000 and 15% of the revenue.
B: 20,000,000 and 35%
A: 25,000,000 and 30%
B: Done.
The above is somewhat simplistic, but it gets the point across. You don't walk away from the table after the first offer.Comment
