By the time this fight goes down, I think the interest will be greater than Alvarez-Angulo. Certainly the actual fight will be better. Lara tends to get a little nasty as a fight approaches. All the humility you saw at Canelo's presser will be out the window. It'll add some ****e to the build-up and match.
I've got Lara in this fight. I'm a fan of Canelo but there seems to be too much skill there for Canelo. Lara is far from having huge advantages but I do believe he has the perfect mix of skills, athleticism, and technique
I think is pretty much a 50-50 fight, if it is a close decision it'll be very difficult for Lara to win it. The picture is funny, Lara is winning the prefight :-)
I'm picking Lara, but one factor does bother me in this prediction; Angulo. On paper one would think Lara would absolutely school Angulo with his eyes closed, this is a guy who was outboxed by Kermit freakin' Cintron, sodomized by caveman Kirkland, and just got obliterated by Canelo. How did this guy manage to go life and death with Lara and almost have him out? I need to watch the fight again, maybe Lara didn't take him seriously or fought with a dumb gameplan, IDK, but it's pretty odd. Lara has schooled much better fighters (Williams and Trout) that it baffles me how his fight with Angulo went. Now, I know Canelo and Angulo fight noting alike because Canelo doesn't put that kind of pressure, but Canelo is faster, stronger and more accurate. The key there is power, which is what obviously troubled Lara in the Angulo fight but I'm still thinking that Lara's great boxing skills and power of his own will override what Alvarez will bring.

There's your answer. Alfredo brought non-stop pressure and power. The guy was absolutely relentless in his fight with Lara, with a seemingly bottomless gas tank. Landy couldn't keep him off. Now, I'm with you; I thought Lara would school the pants off the slow Angulo. But Perro bored-in face-first all night. That's what gave him success....and what ultimately led to his demise. That same Angulo didn't show for the Canelo fight. As you correctly pointed out, Alvarez doesn't fight the same way. That will be the key to a Lara victory...if indeed he wins.

You can understand his struggles if your willing to accept that he simply isn't as good as he's made to be, that isn't insulting either but it'd make things a lot less stressful when thinking about this match up. Canelo isn't as aggressive as Angulo but I think what we're going to see that's distinctively different is that Canelo will be able to compete a bit in the center of the ring, not win (and I don't see him winning in that department) but do decently well. Canelo also has very good hand speed and variates his attack really well so I don't see Lara successfully blocking punches when he's against the ropes, I mean he struggled to do that with Angulo and Molina as it is.
There are things Lara can do that I don't see him doing on the regular, he has great physical tools, he has the advantage in conditioning so he should look to feint to the head and throw a really hard straight left hand to the stomach. I mean he has a considerable reach advantage, I didn't see body punching against Molina or Angulo which ended up hurting him, I would hope he plans to change this.
Angulo didn't seem that relentless in the Lara fight imo. He looked gassed for a majority of the fight and knocked Lara down when his defense was careless.
Angulo is a slow and predictable fighter; his relentlessness if overrated. Lara may have just had a bad night, but it seems he can be overwhelmed by sub-par skills and technique. I don't think Canelo needs to apply Angulo's ATG pressure and relentlessness to get to Lara.
