But Top Rank aren't GGG's promoter. In order to block a fight you pretty much need both fighters under contract. They can't keep a fighter away from Chavez that they don't have under contract (GGG).

    Chavez has a mexican promo

Chavez can negotiate a GGG fight, they would only legally be obligated to let Top Rank promote it, nothing more and nothing less. Top Rank has zero to do with GGG, he has his own promoter (K2)

As a matter of fact, Chavez can side step Top Rank if he wants and negotiate his own deal when it comes to a GGG fight, the only glitch would be is that he'd have to cut Top Rank in and have them promote it so they can get their share.

Arum can't prevent Chavez Jr from fighting GGG, he can only demand that Top Rank get their cut as they are Jr's promoter.

This sounds like Top Rank trying to prevent a fight that quite frankly they have no ability to block.

And Steve Kim's twitter post makes no sense atall. He says if the fight doesn't get signed this week GGG will go to HBO...he's already with HBO, what the **** is that moron blabbering about.
The reason would be Arum would fight it even if it was a losing battle in the courts. Arum has more chips and more lawyers so he can play that game to eventually force Chavez to deal, even if he is totally wrong the time (as old as he is) is on his side or at least Top Rank's side

I don't know how these co-promotions worked. Like I thought Andrade was with banner, but he's with banner and Star promotions evidently.

If he can go around and use Zanfer, more power to him.

If that's the case though, it might work that Top Rank has promotional rights in the U.S

Seriously this is part of the game I just can't seem - or refuse - to understand. How in the hell can a boxer, fighting for his livelihood, not get the fights that warrant him the most money. In this case, why would a contract extension need to be signed? He's under contract, it's the promoters job to get him the fights he wants under that said contract..

I sometimes wish boxers had the option, like athletes in other sports, to hire and fire their agents(in this case promoters) for not giving them the fights that's most beneficial to them. It's a damn shame that a guy like GGG is stuck in between all this.. **** this bull****..yeah, i'm kinda salty and mad about this lol

you are making too much sense. Easier for people to blame this all on Bob Arum and move along. Clearly more is going on here.
