I get why Top Rank wants a contract extension, but I don't see why if push came to shove and JCC Jr. is going to walk anyway why not do that fight and take what you can get from a fairly big risky fight.

I guess he would want JCC to lose to a Top Rank guy but that guy doesn't exist and I don't see why putting Golovkin over should be a big concern.

how so? i mean chavez jr vs golovkin is a fun fight (nothing more) what is this "too good to be true" none sense? the fight is below average. but if we are talking entertainment wise it's good..........(but all in all it's below average)

wouldn't surprise me if top rank wanted a contract extension (thats how they get their fighters under control) offer a big fight but then extending the contract by 4 years

I heard the hold up is because JCC Jr. won't sign an extension unless he's guaranteed the Cotto/Martinez winner.
