Bob Arum and Top Rank's lawyers vs the MGM Grand lawyers. I think deep down inside Bob knows he'd have no chance.

There was apparently nothing in the contract about what signage needed to be up in the MGM, although apparently there was an email exchange about it, but it wasn't put definitively in contract.

Basically Arum expects things to never change and just for things to stay as they are in boxing. If MGM had half a brain they'd SELL the advertising space that exists or include it in the package but give it a value. If I was a promoter that had an event coming up I'd want to advertise it to boxing fans going to another event. When you go to watch a band play live you'll see posters for upcoming gigs by other bands. It's simple marketing.

Arum does everything the old school way and all this incident will do is mean that this sort of thing WILL be discussed at contract level from now on , but as I say, if i was the casino, I would be taking back these poster slots and selling them rather than just handing them to promoters.

As for the press conference, same thing, why not hold a press event somewhere where all the boxing press are gathered? It's just common sense - it wasn't competing with a Bradley/Pac press event, it's just that in TR's opinion it's not the 'done thing' to do any promotional activities during another big fight. Well that's just ridiculous. I'm sure the journalists appreciated being able to kill two birds with one stone and get more work done whilst they were all in the same place.

As long as nothing directly competes with a fight week event (which would be a low tactic) I don't see why you shouldn't market a future event or speak to the assembled media about a future event as long as it doesn't interfere with their coverage of the fight they're in town for.

It's just down to the sheer ego war and childishness of these two sets of promoters that this stuff is being blown out of proportion. Boxing promoters deals with the athletes are some of the worst in sports, none of them are particularly honourable or fair and they couldn't give a flying **** about their customers, us, the fans. Arum deserves absolutely zero sympathy

Might not be the case, but it's a reason to take them to court.

Arum said they had a contract with the MGM to display their stuff for the fight
Come on man. There won't be any court battles with the MGM!

The fact of the matter is that Golden Boy and TR staged massive PPV events at the same venue only a few weeks apart. Of course there's going to be signage and promotional materials of the later's bout while the earlier's going on. MGM can't keep from promoting the Mayweather bout just because Pacquiao's having a fight there too.

Also, Floyd has fought every single one of his bouts at the MGM Grand since De La Hoya. He's the biggest selling attraction in boxing, Vegas is his hometown, and the MGM is his home court. I respect Todd and what he was saying, but honestly What was Arum expecting when they booked a bout a few weeks before Floyd's card? GBP to not promote their card until after? Get real.

I will, but they won't be much higher...600-700k Bradley still isn't a huge name and Pac-Rios no one saw. First one did 700k...around their is fine to be honest.

May ....MGM .... you knew this last May it'd be this date...Arum having a fight their so close to a date you KNEW he was going to have? This is on Arum not Floyd. He tried to cut them short but Floyd is loyal to MGM...and cross promotion will happen that close. Wait til after Floyd and you can have the reverse I think they had a plan and it backfired.
