Anybody else think it's a bad idea for a July 12 PPV for Canelo?

I streamed the Anculo fight and will for the Laras' fight if it gets made. Canelo isn't the mega PPV draw his fans make him out to be plus the soaring number of PPV events this year doesn't help.

He got 350k against Angulo with no competition the same day.

        Lara is no Angulo.

Mix that in with the Fifa third place game in.... good luck with that.

Watch, people will say they did pretty good considering Fifa was same day

As for FIFA, it all depends. It's still something that'll steal potential views.

I get the ratings thing. That's fine. Chavez Jr once had higher ratings than Canelo when both were on HBO. Nowadays, the hype and buzz around those 2 names circulates only around one of them. Canelo.

Not only did he bring in a decent number for his 1st ppv card, but he also rejuvenated his fanbase after his loss to Floyd. Chavez Jr did the exact opposite after Martinez. People are still not going the slightest bit overboard after his 2nd Vera fight. That's where my opinion on this not being a bad idea is coming from.

As far as FIFA goes, that 3rd place match will most likely be played in the afternoon.. A time that'll be well before any main event that Canelo might be apart of.

Games are usually early afternoon. In the Confederations Cup mostly all weekend games were around noon pacific time. It'll be over before the card starts and well before the main event. Like someone said it's going to be a sports packed Saturday so why not take advantage of it.

Also 3rd place games are mostly a showcase for players who didn't get playing time during the tournament.

Don't know what Top Rank was worried about then.

Hey, it's Showtime/GBP risk, if it pays off it pays off
