Anybody else think it's a bad idea for a July 12 PPV for Canelo?

The Fifa Finals is July 12th weekend and my point with the HBO fights was the momentum building up their June/July PPV fights.Canelo has a solid following and it doesn't matter what time or days other fights and sporting events land on. As far as FIFA goes, there's a reason June is damn near empty... The Canelo date, I don't think, will suffer.
Truth be told, the bulk of these fights are in May. I really don't see how that'll even put a dent in terms of interest for Canelo-Lara
In their June fight, they'll definitely be talking up Golovkin/JCC Jr due to Golovkin's ties to the division and comparing the Martinez/JCC Jr fight.
I agreeComment

400 in 5 months =80 bucks a month and like 3-4 bucks a day...that aint ****....6 PPV's in 5 months is a bad idea for all the parties involved. I think most are going to end up flopping
PPV's in HD go for around $70... That's gonna be over $400 worth of PPV's in 5 months. People are not going to be spending that much money on fights. It just isn't worth itComment

Like you said earlier, the 3rd place game is being held on Saturday.. A game in which a lot of fans don't particularly care too much about. Unless Mexico can get past the 2nd round, I think a lot of fans supporting Canelo will be tuned in for his fight with Lara. The Fifa Finals is July 12th weekend and my point with the HBO fights was the momentum building up their June/July PPV fights.

I agree
I see the Jcc/GGG argument but none of them are bringing in the fans, both casuals and hardcore, the way Canelo the brand name is. Chavez went from great numbers in terms of attendance with Lee and Martinez, to flopping in two fights that followed with Vera. His "reputation" is still damaged from the loss and lack of taking things seriously.
By the time FIFA gets going and all these nations have their TVs on, those fights in May will be forgotten. I don't see a third place match doing much harm to the Canelo-Lara fight.Comment

chavez and GGG are both hbo's biggest attractions. Nobody seems to come see Jr. fight, but they evidently still tune in. GGG's never brought in a crowd more than 5k, mostly due to capacity, but they bring in people to watch, and that's a plus for PPVLike you said earlier, the 3rd place game is being held on Saturday.. As for FIFA, it all depends. It's still something that'll steal potential views.Comment
