Khan was born with that speed and it will always be there ofcourse with age it will diminish. Hunter is teaching him to be accurate and efficient with it.
The way I saw it was that he looked calm and picked his spots, which was good, but he also was still making basic mistakes leaving himself open when he threw punches, which was bad.

I think the fact that Diaz isnt especially good let him off a little in that fight. There were holes everywhere.

do you think the reason Khan gets caught in between his own shots is that he simply isn't punching hard enough?

I don't recall Kotelnik and Zab doing it to him and they are good counter-punchers.

It is his technique or lack of it. Khan keeps his hands up just before he engages in a flurry then drops them and is really open. If you watch him in slow motion you will see how open he is and the fact he gets countered so easily is not a coincedence. The fists should travel to the target and back to the start positions giving some protection (watch Ward) Khan's don't they drop down leaving his face and chin exposed.

collazo's win over ortiz, and the attention it brought, are the reason hunter/khan has picked this match-up. an opportunity to win against a "name" at welter - even though collazo isn't one of the top welters!
