This is why I just laugh at the idiotic "He ducking doe" crap that I see from idiots on here. Am glad someone actually came out and lay the bare facts on the table.

Apparently we could have been watching Adonis-Kovalev on HBO soon if only HBO had sc****d together 100k. Al and Michel, apparently, would have generously thrown in 100k a piece to make sure Adonis faced Kovalev.

        Apparently.

You can twist it which ever way you want, the fact were HBO had the chance to step up and they didn't, Showtime show their hand and scoop up a fighter that HBO thought they (Showtime) couldn't. So instead of looking to take a dig at a promoter that is doing his best for his client/fighter you should be taking the slight dig at HBO for the way they allowed that "slight raise" to become an issue.

I dont consider 300 large a "slight" raise.

I dont think Adonis does either.

However the larger point being made is that the deal breaking down had nothing to do with facing Kovalev or not facing him.

              A few things:

              * This (odd) article talks about Boxingscene having seen numerous e-mails. Yet the vast majority of the article is Michel TELLING us his version of what happened (including claims that he and Al Haymon would have paid $100k out of their OWN money to make the Fonfara fight, and thus finalising a three fight deal).

              * We are also expected to believe Adonis' promoter's version of events, when he outright says stuff like "Al Haymon was very keen for Adonis to stay at HBO". Anyone with even a basic understanding of boxing politics right now knows this is total b*ll****.

              * Has Boxingscene seen the e-mail where HBO refuses to pay the extra 100K it would have taken to clinch the Fonfara fight? Or the one where Michel and Haymon say they will sweeten Adonis' pot with 100k each too?

              * Look, Duva/HBO will say one thing, and Michel/SHO/Adonis will say another. The truth, as always, is somewhere in the middle. However, everybody with an ounce of sense knows that Adonis, at 36, having finally made it and with delusions of grandeur over his own worth, didn't really want to fight Kovalev, when he's got a juicy fight with 50 year old Hopkins lined up on Showtime.

              * The smug crowing from the Adonis apologists in this thread is laughable. God knows what they think they've been vindicated about. Well done, Boxingscene saw a bunch of e-mails that make Michel look good. You win.

Pretty good post. I dont take this entry (from one party) as gospel. At least not yet.

If Boxingscene would publish the emails, we would get closer to what went on. Furthermore Duva surely has to react.

What would obtaining the emails prove? You guys won't let a little factual information get in the way of a good trolling.

Real question is is Showtime getting a good deal out of this Stevenson deal, or they're just forced to back Haymon up. Will they make a profit pitting Stevenson against a lesser known fighter? It's not hard to screw up the rival networks' deals by bluffing.
