I'd be shocked if Boxingscene got their hands on the emails and didn't include something about that caveat. I'd be even more shocked if it was never mentioned in those emails but actually existed. I think you can see where I'm going with this.Comment

No it would have been terrible to commit 2m+ to Adonis Fonfara, double so without a guarantee of a Kovalev fight.Comment

Kovalev can't fight on Showtime, ESPN, or any other American network unless it's on HBO. If he wants to fight in Russia without an American station airing the fight, he can do that.
The fight won't happen even if in Canada because Stevenson would obviously not accept without premium cable money. And since Kovalev has a contract with HBO, and Stevenson has a contract with Showtime, the fight can't happen.
I doubt Boxingscene got their hands on every email on the subject matter. Just the select few cherry picked by Micheal to help him make his case.Comment

The emails always mention a three fight deal. The Kovalev deal was part of that three fight package and all three fights went hand in hand. We saw nothing were Michel tried to break those fights apart or anything where HBO attempted to do the same. If HBO had raised the fee and Michel agreed, he would in turn be agreeing to a three fight deal. We saw nothing where they wanted a certain fee for Fonfara without agreeing to a multi-fight HBO contract.Comment

It isn't that HBO did what they felt was best from a business perspective, its that they haven't said anything and let Kathy DUva tell a story they, based on what we read, knew was false. They also tried to "lather up the base" (which are the fans who don't like haymon/floyd) by acting like al haymon made this debacle happen. He didn't.
Herschman's being cheap prevented us from seeing this fight. He is trying to cover up for a mistake he made long before Haymon got involved-not signing these guys to a deal last year and foolishly agreeing to give adonis and kovalev another easy setup fight to "build" to a big event.
He's incompetent and a liar and is making HBO a minor outfit. Fire him now!!!Comment
